MF 4 DISC CREATOR

Post by Ladislaus »

Almost at the end of installing on D drive the message was

'error/launch 3837 rrc'. choice of Abort, Retry and Ignore appered.
Chosed IGNORE.

Another error meesage appeared
'error/launch 946b.rrc'
Chosed IGNORE

It then went on to complete the installation

2. Then I tried to copy a DVD-RAM to the D drive. I went as far as far
as DVD_RTAV and then the pc froze

3. Then I down loaded to C drive the updates step 1 and 2
A error message, ' String full Name_DMF was not found in string'
came. Clicked OK and another similar message
'String Product Name_DDR was not found came.

I repeated step 2 above and the pc froze at the same place.
As I am a novice could anyone help please. Thanks

Is this the trial version? Apparently Ulead's anti-piracy shtuff requires that the trial version be installed on drive-C.

I'm not sure what error message you get if you try to install it on another drive... So, I have no idea if that's your problem.

I think that same anti-piracy shtuff prevents you from re-installing the trial.. So, I hope your not stuck. :(

Of course you can install the program on C, and store all your video files on D (which is what I do).

Whatever drive your operating system is on then install the program
on that drive.

Your existing installation had an error. Sounds like a bad installation.
You should un-install MF4.
Re-boot the machine and re-install again on the same drive as the
operating system is located.
You can't have errors while installing.

If you want to use another drive for the video stuff simply always set
the working folder location in MF4 to that larger harddisk. The harddisk
should be NTFS for the working folder. It's no problem to run MF4 on a FAT32 operating system partition.

Thanks maddrummer3301,
Reading various threads, uninstallaing MF4 completely could be daunting procedure especially for me as a novice/dummy. I hear one just could not delete using 'add/remove' program. Is it true?
In Page 3 of forum michaeltee gives a a method that boggles my mind and so petrified to attempt especially with the 'disclaimer'. Is there other easier and sure ways please.

No, I don't believe that will or should be a problem. That's different files and conflicts.
Simply Add/Remove MF and if you installed the following uninstall them also.
Data-Add2
Quick-Drop

Reboot and reinstall onto the system drive. Don't let it default back to D Drive if it tries to.
MF doesn't look for the C: (C Drive) to install.
It looks and goes by the system variable for the operating system.
That is usually the C Drive but not always. I have multiple installations of Windows
(called Multi-Boot) on various drives. They are separate operating systems.

Can't hurt at all to install the proper way.
Besides, you can't break sometimes that's already broke.

Have you heard of the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
well your installation is broke. You can't break it, it's already broke.

Don't be scared to make a mistake. We learn by our mistakes.
It's only a dumb computer.

A person that never made mistakes can't know very much.

Thanks maddrummer3301,
Your method worked. But on re-installation ' following error on the file/launch 3fd6.rrc' popped up. Clicked 'ignore' and was able to get some satisfactory results, meaning I assigned C as the working drive but it seems to have gone to the Fdrive. As you have given me the encouragement I will try and sort it out by myself first.Thank again for your help. :D

To see what drive your operating system is running on:

Start -> Run -> Type in cmd Then hit the <enter> key (To make a command window)

In the command window type the following: <enter> means hit the
return/enter key on the keyboard:

echo %systemdrive% <enter>

or

echo %windir% <enter>

Those are the system variables that the installation program (and all
programs) look for.

Type exit to close the command window.

Hope this helps,

Thanks maddrummer3301..
Just recovered from a bout of flue.
My operating system is in drive C- That was a dummy mistake.

Having assigned drive D as the working folder in ‘preferences’ I proceeded to import. When ‘ticked’ the progress bar commenced and completed (took about 2mts)
Then clicked ‘import’, the progress bar commenced and completed (took about 2mts)

When I exited to burn the message the message ‘ When exiting without output, all edited results will be lost. Continue? I then chose OK.
Please explain ‘without output’, also
At what point is disc copied to D drive and how to find out if it was successful.

It sounds like your using the -VR module or the edit disk.
Instead use the create regualr dvd. After importing you save the project.

The imported videos are in a sub-folder below the "Working Folder".
Depending on what module your running they cound be in a temp
folder or a folder called "Capture".
Usually the folder is named "Catpure" when using the standard
MF4 disc creator screen for creating videos.
(That screen has an import dvd module. 3rd Icon from the left on
the top of the screen.

Thanks Middrumer 3301, You indeed were right. I was using DVD-VR module. But as there was no 'create regular dvd' I tried 'DVD-video or DVD+vr' module.
Then I went as far as burnning, when after 11mts. (66% of 'Total Progress') the process stopped and by chance saw a pop up menu hidden behind the main frame, with the follwing message' Windows cannot find the file 'C\RxMon.exe'. This programme is necessary for opening file of type 'Audio CD'.
Using 'locate' in that pop up option, I tried Capture, Burn.now, DMF_Temp, from C file, but wouldn not accept. I am almost there .Please give me the last push to hurdle over. Thanks. :?

It sounds like your computer also has the flu.

If the files were created by a dvd recorder they are already compliant
and as long as you don't edit/cut/trim them then MF can simply
chapter/create menu's and burn the dvd which can go very fast.
If you do edit them then it's best to "Export" them using the 3rd icon down on the left and export them
out to mpeg2 dvd compliant files. Then you import the new compliant
file so it doesn't need to be re-rendered at the burning module.

Maybe when you put the dvd in the drive windows used it's autolaunch
feature or something, don't know.

If you open up "My Computer" and right-click on the burner and select
"Properties" then look at the TABS on the top of the properties screen.
See if there are any conflicting software programs that can be accessing
the dvd writer drive. InCD, Roxio Drag 2 Disk, Windows burning capability, Sonic DLA. You should see Data-Add which to edit the dvd you need that option "Allow UDF burning on this drive". Otherwise you can
uncheck it.
Also, you may have a program called "Monitor" running in the background that is ulead's autolaunching program. If Monitor is running
it's Icon is on the bottom right of the taskbar. Right-Cllcik on it and
disable it from loading via the "Options" selection. Then right-click again
on it and "Close" it from running.

All these companies install auto-launching software that conflicts with
each other.
Roxio Drag 2 Disk, Sonic DLA, Kodak auto-transfer, printing software,
Nero InCD, Ulead monitor/data-add, Windows auto-launcher.
I would say that's only a paritial list of programs.

If you still encounter problems burning then uncheck "Create disk" and
check ON either create dvd folders or an "Iso" file that can be
burnt later.

Hope this helps,

Did not edit, cut or trim. It was just a straight copying
Properties of burner had only 'general' and 'Data add'.where Data add was not active.
On hind sight the problem may be that I checked 'Normalize Audio' which I now realise is for video only.
So, unchecked this and tried again. This time the message was 'Insert blank disc' as I had placed a partially recorded disc(DVD-R).
One question before burning with blank disc, Is it possible to burn on the same disc several programs from different recordings(DVD-RAM), some of which are recorded on SP and LP mode, after copying to hard drive.? Thanks.

I'm taking for granted your term "Copying" to harddrive is when you import from the dvd disk?

Absolutely you can have different video formats on the same dvd as long as they are kept separate menu items. They are separate videos.
But, if you edit them then they will be converted to your "Project Properties" unless you export them and specify the settings you want.

With MF (or any dvd authoring program) it's best to work with dvd compliant files. Use a good editor if you need to do major editing.
It's a nice feature added to MF4 being able to export the videos and make them dvd compliant.

I import from dvd-rw in -vr mode and dvd-ram disks -vr mode all the time.
It's good practice to delete the imported videos that are on the timeline after importing and insert them manually from the capture folder. If it's only one video that's imported this may not be needed, but if a few videos are imported sometimes MF doesn't recognize them as dvd compliant and will force a re-rendering of them when it's not necessary. So simply delete the icon and import the video.

I use a dual-monitor display. In MF to insert a video you can simply use windows explorer and drag & drop the videos on the timeline. Nice feature.
So on the 2nd monitor you can have the export folder open. Then when the program finishes exporting just drag & drop it on the timeline using explorer.

Then create chapters, menus.
On the burning screen, create dvd folders on the harddisk.
Test the dvd using a software player such as "WinDvd, Power_Dvd or Ulead Dvd_Player".
Use "Nero" to burn a dvd-video disk (burning the dvd folders created by MF4) and tell Nero to verify the disk.

I imported to the d-drive 6 programmes that were recorded on a dvd-r disc, one after the other and then saved it.
I went as far as 'Burning Target Disc' in the burning process but at 63% it came to a halt.
I would like to clear some points;
Re your advice of Feb.01 @ 7.40 in para 4
What is time line, re-rendering
Could not see icons to delete

Re para 6 . What are 'chapters'. In my 1of 6 programmes lasting 60mts. the screen showed that it had 10 chapters. From where did they come from? Are these chapters assigned automatically.
Any help please maddrummer 3301? Thanks.
