How to animate a title

Post by StewartTurner »

I've got a question about Cool3D. I'm not sure if it's Cool3D production studio because it came with VS7 so I'm posting it in here.

The way I see it is that you can make a static title in VS over a movie background or in Cool3D you can make an animated title over a static picture background.

Is there any way of making an animated title over the movie background?

Thanks,
Stewart

I think you will find that unfortunately it is Ulead Cool 3D - I say that because if it had been Cool 3D Prduction Studio you could have been able to export your work as an overlay .avi video file with a transparent background that you would then put in the overlay track of UVS8 and have your background video in the top track. So one solution to your problem would be to upgrade to Cool 3D Production Studio.

You seem to be under the impression that you can only create still titles in UVS - this is not so - there are many animations and customisations of them available - not quite so elegant perhaps as those in Cool 3D but still definitely animated. These you can insert in the title track and again have your background video in the top track.

Yes you can. I followed the tutorials on the Ulead site and made some pretty cool ones. Guess that's why they call it Cool 3D.

in cool 3d pro studio you cean create a movie background with an animated title on it. you can output to AVI from there.

from memory in cool 3d you cant create an avi movie let alone a transparent one. the only way i got it to work was by bringing the c3d file into the time line and 1 hr rendering for 10 secs of video!

Cool 3d Pro Studio is not fast either!

I tried the technique suggested by Black Lab. It works to a point. You create your animated titled and save as tga files which creates an image file for each frame (with a transparent background). The next step is to import these images into the overlay track of VS with a suitable short duration for each one.

It seems to work but I have found that if you choose import image and choose them all it imports them all into the main timeline and you have to drag & drop them onto the overlay track.

At 25fps, a 4 second title means dragging & dropping 100 clips from one track to another, so does anyone know:
a) Can you import images directly onto the overlay track in VS7, or
b) Is there a way of dragging and dropping multiple clips from the video track to the overlay track.

Thanks,
Stewart.

highlight the clips and drag to the overlay track. be awar i tried this once and image 1 was in the wrong place it came after 10, 2 after 20 and so on. you have to jiggle around a bit to get it to work.

hope it helps!
