I am following the Recommended Procedure in the Forum to use VS9. It is working fine except for sometimes during the Burn phase. I am using the Adaptec AVC 2210 capture device to capture old home videos from VHS and have to use the Sonic MyDVD software that came with the hardware to capture (VS will not see the capture device). I save to an MPeg file then open VS9. I edit clips, put titles in, then render the file to a new filename. I have found I have to close VS9 after this step because sometime during this process, if I try to see my DVD drive, it is gone from My Computer and will not come up as a drive to use for Burning the Disk. Most of the time when I reboot the computer to reconnect the drive, I can then follow the last Burn Phase steps in the recommended procedure and can successfully burn the DVD. But sometimes, it starts the Burn process, the DVD drive is found on the Burn device on the Burn page, all looks well until sometime during the process, the DVD drive just goes away. It says it burns successfully, but I cannot open the DVD door to remove the DVD and it no longer showsup on My Computer and it actually didn't burn at all.
I have a Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB ram, a new Memorex 16X Double Layer DVD recorder. I'm not sure what other specs you might need to give me any help on this issue. Thank you for any ideas.
DVD drive is disabled some time during Burning

Video Studio (most Ulead products that burn to CD/DVD) I have had problems with. About 99% of the time I get coasters from Ulead products, I usually make DVD folders or Disk image and use another program to burn the project.
Use the program of your choice Nero or Media Creator 8 or whatever program suites you.

Check to see if when you installed "Sonic DVD" if you also installed
the Sonic DLA or a similar name. If so, go into add/remove and
remove that packet writing software from your machine.
Also, if you right-click on the dvd drive and select "Properties" there may
be a TAB that will display any packet writing or other software programs
that may be accessing the drive.
I removed the Sonic Dvd Player and the DLA packet writing software because they are probmatic.
The Sonic Dvd Player likes to take control of the drive and auto lauch programs. Couldn't figure out how to disable the Sonic Dvd Player from
controlling the drive so I removed that dvd player.
Also you may also want to disable the windows writing to the drive.
You can do that thru "Tools -> Options" under the windows media player.
Reboot after un-installing those programs to remove them from running resident.
Hope this helps,
