Source File Error

Post by Meatwad101391 »

Alright I've tried atleast 10 times now to burn videos to disc and nothing I'm using Movie Factory 3 SE came with a digital converter

Anyways, I put the Videos in MF, cut out scenes, then for each video make little submenus with pictures n such. Well then I goto Compile it, Some kind of error about cache. Well turns out I didnt have veyr much Room o nthe computer, so i clear out some stuff begin again, this time i get an error its either 5007 or 5003, and ive searched for both 5007 wasnt mentioned at all, so i assume the error was 5003 anyway I couldnt find an answer to it. I've tried making it make the dvd on the computer so i could transferre it with Nero, but no go, I still get Source File Error.

I did read something about images not being able to convert if their not right type, but the basic images that come as backgrounds are jpegs, and so are the ones im using. So i dont think its the problem, i could be wrong.

Anyways how would i get it to work?

Error: was something like "Problem with Source File"

I just noticed something, the Program apparently was trying to send it to my CD-RW and not my DVD+RW, I Cant get it to switch. I goto Options at the last menu screen(where u press output) and it doesnt allow me to change it.

Maybe at the start of the process/project you indicated that you were producing a CD and not a DVD. (Haven't got version 3 so I don't know the work flow)

I have the same problem with MF3 when I try to burn a disc OR save to a file. I get the 5003 or 5004 error every time. I have contacted tech support twice and I have yet to be contacted. I am seriously regretting my purchase at this point.

Meatwad101391,

Try exporting your edited clips (icon to the left of the timeline). Then import them back into your project and delete the originals. That seems to give video data which is more acceptable to the burning process.

Hi,
The people that are having problems with MF3se should try some simple tasks before making large projects.

Always record the video in dvd compliant format if possible. Then create a simple menu and burn an iso or dvd folders on the harddisk. There's no need to burn a dvd yet. Burning a Dvd is the last step of video creation and also has it's problems such as dvd types and various dvd players. So make sure your process works before attemping to burn a dvd.

Don't edit the video, don't add pictures or audio. Just a simple project. Load some dvd compliant files recorded from the unit you bought or your digital camcorder connected via the DV-Firewire connector.

If you load a picture or audio file to the project and the format isn't convertible by MF an error will be generated.

Items not to try yet.
Downloaded videos, converted, re-compressed by dvd-shrink, taken by dvd decyptor, ripped dvd files or programs that convert dvd to CD etc.

Downloaded videos from the internet, are usually special streaming type videos. Microsoft movies wmv etc. Divx, Xvid.

Make sure your working on a NTFS partition for the project. Set the "Working Folder" under "Preferences" to a NFTS partition.

Make sure you have alot of harddrive space for temporary files.

Hope this helps,

MD
