audio popping

Post by jeff_working »

i'm trying to get rid of popping audio, it sounds like a phonograph instead of cd quality sound. i'm rendering to avi and i get periodic popping sounds in the audio that seem to vary in intensity ... the only things that are static are that the frequency seems to be periodic and that it seems to be continuously irritating me. haha.

how do i get rid of it ? what even caused it ? i only have one sound file in the whole production, it's just one song continuous, so it's not a filter problem or something to do with the way files are merged or something like that, it's just one big file. when i hit preview it has the popping sounds in already, and it continues on through producition all the way to making dvd's, the same sounds. i really need to get rid of it and get my crystal clean audio back.

thanks for the help, i don't know really what other helpful information i could give except that it is media studio pro 7.0, i can't remember if it's patched or what i did to it when i installed it, this is really the first time i've actually tried to use it for something important. at the back end i'm using ulead dvd moviefactory le but that doesn't seem to be the source of my troubles, it's the media studio pro 7.0 that's giving me the troubles. the exact version i just looked it up is 7.01.1000 if that helps.

and i'm looking for an actual solution, not advice like oh you should have bought such and such ... or hey you have to render to dv for it to work and you can't use avi files, etc. it's an expensive product, i better be able to use avi files, and i better be able to render something other than dv, etc lol, what i'm saying is i don't just want a workaround, i want to know what the actual solution is. :) thank you in advance!!!! :)

1. Fill in your system specs in your profile. Otherwise we're shooting blind.

2. If you're running 7.0 you need to apply Service Pack 3 to bring you up to date (7.3).

Don't forget to set a restore point before patching.

Is your "song" from an MP3 file? If so, convert it to WAV at your default sampling frequency (e.g., 48 kHz or 32 kHz for DV) before putting it on your timeline.

I had popping noises in my sound and fixed it with a better sound card.
