Can anybody tell me what this error message means. I get this mesage "the size or color depth format is not supported" almost immeadiately after clicking on burn using VS9. I have successfully created and burned many DVDs with my current setup using VS9. This is the first time I have ever seen this message. I can't figure out what is different this time that is creating this problem.
The mpeg file I am trying to burn has the following properties which I have used with all my other projects. I have confirmed my burn properties match the file properties.
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
VS9 Error "the size or color depth format is not suppor

That is a very unusual error message.
I assume that you are observing all the warnings in the recommended procedure (top sticky post): empty timeline, video file, burn properties set to precisely match the video file properties.
If so, your video file may be corrupt or your VS9 ini files may be damaged.
Does the video file playback properly using Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player? If so try doing a Repair or reinstall with the VS9 installation CD.
If you are confident that the VS installation is good, you could try creating a new video file with Smart Render disabled. This has fixed corrupt video files for me.

Resolved issue but still not sure of the root cause
The VS9 install and the video file were both fine. The issue was related to the DVD template layout . I tried burning a DVD with the same mpeg file and a different template and it worked fine. I then went back and tried the problem template layout again and got the same error message. I had used the template before so I am unsure why it failed this time. I used a different layout for the same template and it worked fine.
