Hello:
Has anyone been able to figure out how to sort the video in the VS9 library. When I load multiple clips (sometimes 60+) it's a real pain to use the load window and put them in order. However, if I let VS9 load them as it pleases and use sort by Name or Date they don't end up in order. One would think you would get uvs....02, uvs....02-001, uvs...02-002, etc. but that's not what happens.
Thanks in advance

Hi
This is not easy, and it is about time ulead corrected this problem. Although I have to say that VS 9 is an improvement.
Unfortunately Video Studio names its clips from ***002.avi then ***002-1.avi.. ***002-2.avi when it reaches ten its ***002-10.avi
Your operating system will sort the clips in order placing
***002-1.avi next to ten…..***002-10.avi
***002-2.avi next to twenty ***002-20.avi not next to two and so on.
So they are all appear mixed up. In fact they are in reverse with the single numbers that are out of sequence. (up to 100 that is) Then it all starts again with the larger numbers.
Sorry if that’s a bit hard to explain.
OK---------You have to import the clips to the library manually.
Create a new library page.
Pressing the ‘load video’ icon top right shows the ‘Open Video File’ window
First Insert only clips up to nine only.
You can select by using ‘Click + Ctrl’ (do not forget the first one ***002.avi)(ten in all)
(It is easy to identifying the first clips as the file names are shorter.)
Pressing Open, opens another window (change clip sequence)
Clicking the ‘clip file name tab’ at the top will rearrange the clips in order up to 9.
Press ok. (first 10 inserted in order.)
Now repeat the procedure selecting clips 10 to 60+
At this point I would select ‘all’ ‘Ctrl + A’ then deselect 1 to 9 using ‘Click + Ctrl’
(Again it is easy to identifying the first clips as the file names are shorter.)
Now insert clips 10 to 60+ changing the order in the change clip sequence window.
If you have more than 100 then you have to repeat the process.
As I said its not easy to understand.
I assume you have multiple clips because of capturing to ‘Split By Scene’
I always captured using Split by Scene, but have now started capturing a single file.
Then use the split by scene function prior to editing.
Hope this Helps

I know it s a pain to do but....
if you click the name below the thumbnail in the library, you can re-name the clip. I often rename mine 0001 then 0002......0056, 0057 etc.
You can then sort the clips into your renamed order.
It is a pity you can't select all the clips and rename them in one go like you can rename windows files with the freebie "The Rename"

This is one of my suggestions for furture enhancements to Media Studio 8

but the suggestion applies just as equally to Video Studio.

What is meant by the "clip file name tab" in "change clip sequence" that is apparently used to sequence the clips? Do I have this in VS8? In a separate post I wondered why all my clips show up in reverse order even though the file names are simple (DSCF001, DSCF002, etc.) and properly ordered when I "select" them.
Thanks.
Thanks.
