MPEG Settings bug?

Post by Jamz58 »

I am trying to create DVDs from a .mpg file created on my WinTV USB2. The file is over 4 hours long. I am trying to take large pieces with the multi trim and make them fit 4.7GB DVD disks.
When I change the mpeg settings the predicted output size does not change appropriately.
I tried a smaller file (10 minutes) and the setting changes do make the appropriate output changes.
It appears that a similar issue was addressed in the patch put it doesn't seem to help in this case. I tries both the MavieFactory and the WinTV patches. No help.
Any ideas?

Not sure about the MF3 se version but in the beginning of your project
you probably have the "Do Not Convert Compliant Mpeg2 files" Checked ON. Located by clicking on the "Gear" Icon.

After you edit the video it's Not dvd compliant and the rendering is
based on the "Project Settings".
It also could be a bug but try "UnChecking" the "Do Not convert Compliant Mpeg2 files" box.
That will make MF re-calculate the dvd size in accordance with the "Project Property" settings.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. First I have to re-record the file. I tried a different program and it wiped out my source file.

No MPG support; WinTV PVR USB driver unrecognized!

I also have the problem with inability to import mpg files, which I know work because I was able to use them in MF3SE with no problem. Today I bought and downladed MF4 and can't use those same files! I did try unclicking that "Do Not convert Compliant Mpeg2 files" box but it didn't help.

I also have a problem with 4.0 not recognizing my Haupage WinTV PVR USB drivers. I downloaded and tried to run the "DVD MovieFactory 4 Hauppauge devices support pack (Release Date: 2005/06/13 )" but the installer says it can't fine DVD MovieFactory 4.0 -- Which IS there! I can see it!

Any clues to either of these incredible design flaws will be appreciated.
