Videostudio 9 Trial locks up

-P4 3Gig 1.5G ram
-lots of drive space
VS has been the best program I have found so far with the least amount of crashes and recoverable lock ups.

Video file is 2gig in size.
But how many different scenes can I have when "I split a scene"
because I have around 400 and when I try to join 350 to 349, as soon as I click on the 350...lock up..
It is a true lock up because I left the program run all night and it never returned.
You can never tell if it is busy or locked..all looks the same.
