Error message "Codec TrialActivation has a serious erro

I just donloaded the Free Trial of VideoStudio and once I clicked on any of the options (DV-to-DVD Wizard, Movie Wizard or VideoStudo Editor) i get a pop-up message saying "Codec TrialActivation has a serious error." What should I do?
Any advice is most welcome.

Hey Steffan,

provide more info for one thing!!

One limitation of the trial that i'm aware of is it's lack of Dolby audio support - so make sure you're not specifying Dolby as the audio format.

Thanks for replying 2dogs. I have not specified anything except that I had to change the resolution of the screen.

Do you know hoe long the Free Trial lawsts for? I downloaded on a Friday night and went to do the editing on Sunday morning. Perhaps the Free Trial ran out of time!

No, the trial normally lasts 30 days. Have you tried reinstalling?

Hi Steffan,

I'd agree with Ken - if you can't even get into the program, in effect, it may indicate a problem with the install. Did you download the trial or get it on a Ulead trials CD compilation? The latter would remove the possibility of there being a corrupt install file, and Ulead only charge for the CD shipping (plus there's a whole bunch of useful trials to suck up all of your available free time!)

If you do re-install and continue to have problems, you might try the technique of re-installing into a newly created windows user account.

Hi,
I also had the same error message after downloading the trial. I thought it must be a download problem. I bought the program on disk thinking it would work but after installing I'm still getting the same message. I registered the product so I cam get tech help (yesterday). I have not had a reply from them yet. Relieved that other people are having the same problem I thought there must be something wrong with computer.
Hope problem will be fixed soon,

So you paid the full amount for the full application and still have trouble?

Could you let me know what Tech Help tells you what to do?

It is obviously an important part in the decision process of buying a video editing program.

Yes I will let you know what they say. I still have not had a reply. Tested program on a friends computer and it worked fine.

I am having exactly the same problem with a purchased copy of the full product. I have waited 2 weeks for tech support to reply but with no joy. Have you found any solution as yet?

I have just bought the upgrade version of videostudio 9.I am having the same error and can't open the program.I too have not got any answer from customer support.I am anxiously waiting for any solution to this problem-very frustrating!

I also am having the "Codec TrialActivation has a serious error" problem. I reinstalled the program and the error persists. I really expected help to be available, but apparently it's not. I guess Ulead won't be getting my $100...

For those who have actually bought the full program, did you first completely uninstall the trial version before you installed the new version? I think you have to do that or else you will have problems, quite apart from your current one...

Yes I did completely uninstall the trial version.Weirdly enough I got the same error when I tried to load the trial version too.I have uninstalled as completely as I could several times and then reinstalled.Sometimes after reinstalling, the program just disappears when the main screen appears for a fraction of a second.Other times when I tried to load the movie wizzard I get the error which says "instruction at 0x00899302 referenced memory at 0x09b3b730.The memory could not be loaded."All very vexing.I hope I am able to make some progress or I will be after my money back.

:shock: Did you do a regedit to get rid of all traces? Not for the faint-hearted but in reality fairly easy. And often very necessary!
