Hello,
Just bought am camera and found out that it doesn´t have a direct connection to the pc for editing. following recommendations I found in the web bought VS 9 SE, and after the first exiting moment when I imported my first films from a DVD-R found out that VS imported, but apparently without AUDIO.
I´ve looked the ULEAD page for any patches but cannot find anything.
So, the questions is it´s me doing something wrong, it´s my PC of what?
Anyone can help?
Thanks Amigos

Your cam records sound as 2 channel Dolby Digital (formerly known as AC-3).
VS9 handles Dolby Digital sound natively without the need for any plugin so that leads me to the question of what version of VS9 you actually have?
You say VS9 SE. The "SE" usually indicates a crippled version of the software that comes bundled free with some other type of hardware device like a capture card or similar.
You also say you purchased this SE version, which is unusual. Can you confirm that you actually have an SE version?
Also go to "Tools" and select "Product codec Information" from the drop down list and check to see if there is a Dolby Digital codec listed as "Full."

VS 9 SE Version
Hi,
Thanks the reply. The version is indeed VS 9 SE, bought from ebay "as new original". Looked at Installed Codecs and only has MPEG4 full, which might confirm your idea that is not the full version, as cannot activate other codes, because are not even in the list.
So, now the question is where can I get a patch to have access to the other codecs, or at least the one I need?
Or is this SE version so limited that cannot be updated, patched?
Thanks your reply.

I am afraid you have in a sense been diddled in your purchase. As Lance has already said, SE versions come free when bundled with a piece of hardware such as a Firewire card or analogue capture card. So whoever got it free, then sold it for a profit on e-bay to an unsuspecting customer, you. The problem is that, again as Lance has already said, SE versions are crippled, and in this case, one of the crippled functions appears to be the ability to handle Dolby AC-3. But the worse news for you is that SE versions normally also cannot be patched. They are primarily meant only to make people enthusiastic about upgrading to the full version of the program, which in this case would cost you a further US$49.95. Sorry. The only thing I can think of is to go to www.videohelp.com and search on it for an AC-3 filter which might work with VS9 SE to at least allow you to capture Dolby audio. But it will then require the audio to be converted within VS9 to one of the other audio formats (LPCM, mpeg-layer 2), and will not output a new Dolby format. You'll find a couple on http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=6#6
BTW, mpeg-4 is a video codec, not an audio one. Do a search on Google for a little freeware program called Gspot, and that will give you a full list of both video and audio codecs installed on your computer.
