I have been testing MF4 and am considering purchasing it, but the trial version does not have all of the templates. If I buy the software, where will I get the templates? Should I buy the packaged version?

If you purchase online you will be provided with a link to download the 350Mb of extra content. If retail it is on a CD.
Either way, from comments here, it would seem that you should use the "full manual uninstall" described in...

to remove the trial version before you install the full version.
Note the reference at the end to finding the appropriate uninstall folder.
And opinion here seems to favour using the boxed version for installation.
