Unable to navigate Chapters

I created a VCD, from a single MPG file which contains several pages of chapters with VS 7 SE. This is a soccer training video so chapter selection would allow selection of various drills.

When I play it in the DVD player, I cannot navigate using the normal navigation buttons. I am able to use the numeric keys to select a chapter. 1 gets me into the chapter selection. From there if I can only play chapters 1 through 5. I am unable to get to the next page because the normal arrow keys don't select the chapters.

Shouldn't I be able to get these to navigate using the same navigation keys I do with a comercial DVD?

No - thats the way VCDs work and is the standard for VCDs

To get to the second menu page try pressing the 'fast forward' button on your remote - it works for me.

I have also just checked a newer DVD player and that has 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons which switch between menu screens, - a friend has also just informed me he has buttons labelled 'Index+' and 'Index-' which do the same, so it looks like you need a little experimentation.

If you want your disc to work like a DVD then I am afraid you have to burn a DVD

Thanks, that worked.

I was having trouble generating the DVD and when I read that the VCD was as good of a quality as the VCR I figured I would try that. In this case I was backing up a tape which was long out of print.
