Recording AVI file to camcorder tape
Is there a way to record an AVI file presently on my hardrive back to a DV tape using my camcorder. It seems I seen this posted somewhere but did not read it at the time and now need it if possible.
Thanks......

You certainly can: Share > Export. You have your video camera set up the same way as you do for capture i.e. in PLAY mode and connected by Firewire. Your camera must be one that supports this kind of recording i.e AV in as well as out. (AV is a function and not a format like DV). I understand some vidcams sold in Europe especially, only have AV out (i.e you can capture from them) but not in...
There may be a problem if you are not using XP and/or have been a user of the Video Wave editing program. But try it out first and get back to us if you encounter problems.

I should perhaps have asked first whether it was a true, uncompressed AVI clip or a DV/AVI one. The latter is the format needed for export.
But to import it into VS 8, you can either go to the library pane, select Video in the little window up towards the top right hand corner, right click in the library pane are and choose "Insert Video" and point it to where you have the AVI file stored. And from there you can drag it into the timeline. And the Share > Export. Or else simply right click on the timeline, choose "Insert Video", then Share > Export.

After I sent my first reply it dawned on me, with a very low powered bulb, to look under share and there was the whole procedure and first try I got one of the two files recorded on the tape in my camcorder and just watched it and it is perfect. All I have to do now is record the second one and things are great
Thanks to you my problem is solved.
Thanks again....
