Following Ulead Support information to try to load recent Hotfix, I was asked by Ulead support to try un-installing and re-install the program first.
Now when I re-install the software (which was previously working fine), the program will not open. There is a posting in FAQ's site for MediaStudio Pro 7 but nothing for pro 8.
Wouldn't it be nice when 'fixes' fix problems rather than create them!

Step 1 is to do another uninstall and re-install.
After uninstalling, clear out your temporary files
Delete anything under
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0\
also
C:/documents and settings/(username)/application data/Ulead Systems/Ulead MediaStudio Pro/8.0/
Reboot the computer and then Re-install.
If this fails come back for more suggestions.

In addition to the two files that Steve suggests removing the Ulead Support site suggests that the C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{4D701F5D-F149-4FAC-AAA2-A36C088C5FE3}file is also removed for Media Studio 7. Anyone know the equivalent file for Por 8?
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

I had the same problem with MSP8, it wouldn't start after I used a registry cleaning program to clean up my Windows. Big mistake, I tried reloading and doing all of the other cleaning, no joy. I installed the preview version, it ran fine, uninstalled it and re-installed the normal version (downloaded from Elements 5). No luck.
I finally cloned a drive from another computer that MSP8 ran on and used it on the computer that wouldn't load MSP8.
Only suggestion is to load your operating system from scratch, it should work then.
I also tried severel restore points with no luck.
I'm not sure that Ulead is aware of the problem, however, I have read several posts about the problem, didn't see any fixes.

Not sure if it's a Ulead problem given you used a registry cleaner without;
1. saving a backup of the registry
2. doing a system backup.
just in case something blew up on you, which of course it did.
As far as the hotfix/SCD installer issue goes, please note the Announcement at the top of this forum.

Terry Stetler:
I did have a backup of the registry and used it to restore the registry to before when I had the problem. I also create a restore point before installing any programs. None of the restores or registry fixes worked.
As I said before there are several posts as to the same problem on this forum, with no solutions.
I described the solution I came up with, however the problem was before I got the proper ESD file from Ulead support. I'm not sure that the recent ESD file would fix the problem or not.
