VFX Plug-Ins

Post by nt88498 »

I am thinking about purchasing a plug-in for special effects and awsome transitions. I saw that Ulead lists VFX plugins on their website as partner products. Have any of you used either VFX Flash Factory, VFX Mask Plug-In, or VFX Flash Transition Plugin? Do they create some awesome effects and transitions or would I be wasting my money?

I have all of them, and the worked fine in MSP 6 and 7. But not in MSP8.
I sent them an email about them and they said, they are going to look into it. That was about a month ago...nothing yet.

Hank,

I have Holywood FX. To get this to work in MSP8 I had to copy the plug in from the MSP7 VFX sub-directory to the MSP8 VFX sub-directory.
have you tried this with your plug in?

Yes, I tried that, but with no success. They are in the folder, but they won't
show up in the editor.

Hank,
I do have VFXmask, VFXflash transition, etc. and they are working well with MSP8.

When installing, the VFX???? couldn't detect MSP8 program but I selected the vfx_plug subdirectory as requested by the VFX???? installer.

I have all of them (the 3x VFX programs) appearing in my transition selection and can use them without problem.
Brgds,

Bernard,
I juat tried that, and in the editor when I click on VFX plug
I get an error message: "cannot load data buffer" and locks up
the whole program. Oh well, thanks anyway.
My OS is XP PRO.

Hank,
I have WINXP Home Edition SP2 but do not believe it makes a big difference. Just by curiosity, what is the version of your MSP8 ?
Did you buy the box or the downloaded version. If the downloaded version then is it the one that requires internet to activate or the serial number only.
I do have the ESD (download) version that did not require the internet activation.
Just asking in order to see the difference between you and me.
Kind regards,
Bernard

Bernard,
I have the download version 8.00.002. And of course I can't use the hot fix—it locks everything up. I have reinstalled MSP8 three times now. They did send me an activation key to start with , which I only had to use once.

Hank,
The version I am using is the 8.00.0033 including the HotFix.
I initially installed the ESD (download version) that did not require internet.
Do not know if it makes any difference but, I would first try to get your MSP8 up to date with correct version.

Good luck.

Bernard, I emailed Ulead for a full version. They gave me a site that to down load the full version. However, when I started to download it told me it would take over 4 hours to download—and I have DSL! after 4 tries,
I gave up, and emailed them back and asked fo another site. Still waiting.
I could download the trial version in 15min., but that's the one I have now.
unless they have upgraded it??

Took me that long too. I wanted a solution to the problem though so just let it run through the night. It's fine now, but I must admit it did strike me as a little odd.

Well, I did the long download and reinstalled MSP8 full version.
Still couldn't install the patches, and the VFX trans. still locked up
my editor. Other than that, things are ok.

Bernard,
My new version is 8.00.0028.
I did as you said, only to find that the actual trans. are not in the
folder.
So I copied the original folders from my laptop and put them in my desk
top computer...they are in there now, but effects sill locks up.
I down loaded the latest demo version and it works fine, except for the red line they put across the frame. I sent them an email to see if we could work out something since I have paid for them.
