Failed to Initialise video capture plugin

Post by Neils »

I cannot import any video from a video camera (various cameras tried with same result). However, with another Video editing program (on the same PC), movies can be imported fine.

Error Message reads:
Failed to initialise video capture plug in.
Another program may be using it or the file has been moved.

Failed to open the driver.

I would suggest a possible conflict with the other video editing program installed.

Try booting your PC after you have connected the camera and switched it on. How do you connect to the PC?

I'm sure you could get a lot more responses if you would provide us with more detail.

Initialise video capture failure

Post by Neils »

Further info on my problem.

PC (Windows XP SP2) is turned on.
Video camera is connected via Firewire.
Turn the camera on.
Windows recognises camera and brings up dialog asking which program to use.
Select Ulead VideoStudio 8
Program starts
Go to the capture page and Error message then appears.

Hope that helps.

As I said before, don't use VS :? It appears to me that you should go into setup for the capture module and select the right capture driver. I'm not at my video machine right now and can't tell you, of the top of my head, what the name of the correct device driver is, something like UleadDirectShow I think. Also make sure that the right device control is set. From memory, I think you should use the MS Device control.
