Ronaldo,

The problem is associated with a specific component of the PS4 installer which (for reasons unknown) fails to generate these files at the time of installation. It occurs with certain PC configurations and the only known fix is to physically plug the missing index.smp files into the the appropriate folder of an existing PS4 installtion. The only thing to keep in mind is that the uninstaller will remove these files if you uninstall PS4. Therefore, if you ever need to uninstall PS4 and then re-install it, you'll want to keep copies of your index.smp files on hand to restore your props and themes.

Hi Mike thanks for the detailed explanation. I will try to place all the files you have sent in the designated folders. will update you on the status as soon as i complete this... :)

ronaldoreyes: Did you actually follow the proceedure for using the -a and -deleter switches on the installer?
Even though you install completes without asking for layout.bin etc. it is still possible that the last cab file gets deleted by the installer cleaning up when it is partially expanded. If this is the case you may find files missing but the install completes normally.

It is worth a try ----

michaeltee: I've done a little research on this topic of missing index.smp files, this is what I find.

If I list all files in "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4" by date/time I find that all the index.smp files in the directories "Content\Menu Template\*" and "Content\Props\*" have a time of when the install was completed. There are a few other files created 2 and 3 miniutes before these files. To see this on your system just use the windows explorer search for * from the main "Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4" directory and then sort by date in the results window.

What this tells us is that these files are created on-the-fly by the installer. There are other index.smp files with dates of 2004 amd 2005 which are part of the install package and not generated. I would have to agree with you that installer fails to generate these files.

Since there is such a long window of time (2+ minutes) before these files are generated it is possible that if the installer starts its clean-up pass it would exit too early. Therefore it would be good if someone who has this problem try the -a and -deleter switched on the installer. 'Cause if it works you won't have to send files to everyone....

Just tryin to get to the bottom of this --

Thanks

Hi drmom11,

You're research is much appreciated. I hope someone who feels comfortable with the procedure will give it a try and report their results. I know this method has worked for users of other Ulead products as well as proggy's from other publishers. As you say, it's definitely worth a try :)

For anyone who may have missed it, here are the links you'd want to visit:

As for myself, I'm glad to help. That said, I would encourage new users who encounter this problem to consider that nearly everyone who has posted in this thread now has a copy of the "index.smp" files and hopefully would be happy to help out their fellow PS4 users if asked.

I am also experiencing the 'missing themes' dilemma.

Could MichaelTee or anyone send me the missing files I need?

Thanks in advance

OzyNick - Did you try the installer switches -a and -deleter?
We suspect that the installer issue is causing this problem but no one has veriifed it on a system that exhibits this problem.
