VS 7 Sony HCR_DC30 Avermedia 1394 PCI problem

Post by kokigami »

ok. the card appears to be working in system Hardware, and has a MS driver it appears. The Camera won't show up anywhere. I am using the same cable as my wife uses on her mac, so it should work. Rumors of a sony specific 1394 driver have lead me all over the sony site, but no luck. Avermedia site is useless. I would think one firewire card would be about the same as the next........and the card came with the software... Any thoughts?

I think the Sony-specific driver you are referring to is the MicroDV driver, which is separate from MiniDV.

In order for the camera to be recognized, it must be in playback mode. Also, if you are running Windows XP with SP2 installed, try grabbing this update to correct a FireWire problem introduced with SP2.

Lastly, rule out UVS as the source of the capture problems by trying to capture using WinDV.

ok, this is wierd, but this morning it seems to be working. I tried the windv thing and it worked. So I opened UVS and... tada...the camera was now on the capture list. Thank you, whatever you did.. I spent about 4 hours last night downloading, installing, rebooting and trying different things..

cool. I will be hanging out here now. You guys have magic powers..
