From what I have managed to work out I think the Smart Compositor Templates are stored here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0\uct_plug
Last time I looked I had about 10 Templates that came with the installation.
I have recently installed the Latest Hot Fix and also the Smart Compositor Editor.
Tonight I used the Editor for the first time and created a sample template, It worked fine.
Upon checking "Insert, Smart Compositor" function I now find that I only have 2 Templates. 1 is the sample I had just created, the other is DL01_A
The rest have mysteriously vanished.
I suggest everyone checks the above sub-directory and makes a back up before installing the HotFix and Editor.
Smart Compositor Missing Templates
I installed SCD and have attempted, unsuccessfully, so far, to use it (it refuses to save). All my original 22 templates are still there, intact, plus 1 I created in early beta testing (it is since then that it has refused to work),

I think I now know why my templates "Vanished".
Before I could install the recent Hotfix, I had to uninstall the original "Internet activation" version and then install the newer "Serial number" version.
Everything appeared to be in place, my personalised settings, Burger transitions, HFX transitions, favourites etc.
It seems that the uninstall must have removed the smart compositions, though everything else had been left intact.
Word of warning though, when I re-installed the "Extra content" (to get the missing templates back) it removed my personalised settings, favourites and windows layouts. Good job I had them all saved.
