can not burn to dvd: button inactive (vs7.0se)

Post by gok »

For some reason the button "burn dvd" is inactive on Share tab.
I have Nero dvd burner installed and it works fine as is. Could somebody give me an idea how to activate studio's button?
Tnx

I suspect the only way to activate the burning engine will be to upgrade. There are a number of versions of VS 7 (and 8 and 9) labelled SE out there -- all of them a missing some functions or features. One of them will not allow your to burn DVDs (though it is usually labelled VS 7 SE Basic). If I recall correctly, this version will only allow you to burn VCDs and SVCDs. But I think it did allow you to at least create a DVD disc image (ISO) file or Video_TS folder, with your menu included. You could then use Nero to actually burn the ISO or Video_TS. If it won't even allow you to prepare those, then you produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 of your project, and import that into Nero, build your menu and burn. Nero 7 is a good deal better than 6 regarding menu variety, and as ever, does an excellent burning job.

Upgrading to the current version 9 of Video Studio will cost US$49.95, but IMHO is worth it for the extra features it has, quite apart from the burning engine.
