How to Create Full Screen Video
I have a question about resolution settings. In VS 7 DVD SE, I have capture settiing set to DV type 1 and the resulting capture from my video camera is an AVI file that is in DV Video and audio format and its resolution is 640 x 480. When I go to Share > Create Video File > DVD NTSC, it renders an .MPG file with resolution of 720 x 480. The original AVI file was full screen, but when I play back the MPG file, it has black at the top and bottom and looks like its in widescreen. How do I caputre and burn full screen video? Thanks for your help.

Full Screen
I have a similar problem with full screen.
At first I did a PAL DVD using Share > Create Video File > DVD PAL.
The output was full screen - good, but the chapters didn´t start at the right place.
I then read the link for recommended procedure for video studio.
I created a mpeg video file and after that the menues and chapter were good - but ... the output was not full screen.
It has black at the top and bottom and looks and it is truncated at the sides.
I was using 720 * 576 as recommended.
It could not be anything with the capturing because I was using the same AVI files at both times.
Any suggestions?

What are the dimensions of your source file?
Standard dimensions are
720x576 PAL
720x480 NTSC
If your source files are something different such as a computer monitor size 640x480 then although it will be full screen on your Computer monitor it will either need to be stretched or padded out with black bars on the sides to make the canvas a DVD compliant size.
If for some reason you deliberately want to keep a non-compliant size, say for display on a website or only for use on your computer monitor, then you need to create a new non standard template.
To do so select Tools, Make Movie manager, New.
Select a file format eg AVI or MPEG or one of the others in the list.
Give it a name so that you can later identify it.
Click OK, then a box appears.
Click the General Tab then you can choose one of several "Standard" sizes (including 640x480) or make one of your own.
If you select AVI You should also click the AVI tab and select a compression such as DV Video Encoder type 1.
There are a number of other settings you can also set such as the audio format, frame based or upper/lower field first etc.
When you now go to the "Share, Create video file" tab, your new template will appear in the list of available options.
