Video Loops

Post by Ormond Williams »

I have taken a clip of video where the end is very similar to the beginning and cut it in half, then swapped the two clips so that the beginning and the end, which were once together, join absolutely seamlessly. At the join in the middle, I have placed a 1 second crossfade so that any differences in the scenes are blended.

I have been successful in creating some video loops this way, but have one small problem.
Using Easy Worship software to play the loops, when they reach the end and start again at the beginning (which is the part that was once continuous) there is a slight hesitation. Water cascading over a waterfall stops flowing for a fraction of a second and is noticeable.
Other mpg loops that were included with the Easy Worship software do not do this.
Does anyone have any idea why this would happen with the loops I make with Ulead Video Studio 9?

I have not had a need for a continuous loop, but the I can understand the slight hesitation as the player finds the beginning again. I don't know how long your clip is, but I would recommend just placing it once after another until you fill up the project with the clip. Depending on your data rate you will end up with one little hesitation in one or two hours of video, you will probably be the only one to see it. If someone else sees it, they will have to stare for another hour or two before it happens again.

I know this doesn't answer your question about why it does it, but I thought this might be worth consideration.

Have you tried playing it with other software such as PowerDVD or even Windows Media Player?

Video Loops

Tubadad,

Thanks for your reply. The video loops are made from a small amount of video, 5 to 15 seconds, so that the file size is very small.
Sorry I didn't explain that!

sjj1805,
I have tried playing the loop with Window Media player and when it starts again it doesn't play seamlessly, whereas the loops supplied with the Easy Worship software do loop seamlessly.
I guess there is something wrong with the way Ulead VS9 constructs the mpg at the beginning or the end.
Its very frustrating.
