Update: I decided to dump Movie Factory so no need to reply to thread.
I can't seem to save a capture in the Movie Factory trial version. I've got my Sony camcorder hooked up by firewire and can control it to preview video (although very choppily and with distorted sound). When I hit the capture button it appears to be capturing, but on Stop Capture there is a brief pause followed by a dialog box saying "Capture failed. The file may be corrupt. Delete it?"
I have 3+ gb of free disk space and this fails even on a 10-second capture, so it's not a space issue. Now, the PC I am trying this on is not beefy--1.2 ghz, 632 mb RAM--but Windows Task Manager does not show either CPU or memory to be pegged. I had assumed that the terrible quality of the preview window was lack of system resources as well, but same question about Task Manager. So I am baffled. I've searched the forums for help and haven't found anything on this.
Any ideas? Dead in the water here! TIA, Edward

I dunno what's going on with Movie Factory, but your camera should have come with software and drivers to transfer the video to your hard drive.
If you can get the video from your camera into an AVI file using Sony's software, you can use Movie Factory make a DVD.... maybe.
Or, maybe you just need to install the Sony drivers.
