I am trying to capture analog video using the capture tab in VS7, whenever I press play on the vcr, and start capturing, the video flickers at the top half of the screen, ( it looks like even past the overscan area. I am using the ADS tech DVD Xpress to convert analog to digital. I am on a very new and fast computer (3.4Ghz) I do not have access to a DV camcorder, or the money to purchase one in the near future (so passthrough is not an option). I am trying to capture a 2 hour video in 4mbps bitrate.
I tried to use the Capwiz program that came with my hardware, but I am unable to import these captured clips into the library (every time it stops working and cpu usage jumps to 100%.) I thought i could capture directly into VS7
Any help with this problem is appreciated, as I am tearing my hair ouot in frustration right now.

I've had excellent results capturing with my ADS DVDXpress and the supplied Capwiz software. It has a hardware MPEG-2 encoder so does all the heavy lifting for your PC.
I capture to MPEG-2 at 4500 kbps VBR. These files are exactly what you need to create a DVD so UVS does not have to re-render them.
Are you following the procedure exactly as outlined in the top post in this forum?
Do you have all the UVS7 patches installed?
I use UVS 8.01 and it works fine (aside from al the quirky little bugs it has).
One thing to try is open the Windows Task Manager (right click on Task Bar and select) before importing the file and then import it and see what's going on. UVS 8.0 had a memory leak that you may also be experiencing so see if your memory usage hits the wall when the problem occurs.

Follow jwarner's advice.
Also here is a link where you can download version 3.5 of Capwiz and other updates from Adstech http://www.adstech.com/support/Download ... D%20Xpress
I don't understand why you can't import your captured files into vs7. You may need to uninstall and re-install.
As with jwarner I also have excellent results capturing with my ADS DVDXpress .
Here's another link to a forum for users of Adstech devices and bundled Ulead software

thanks for the replies, I already have the version 3.5 of Capwiz. (I tried to upgrade to 3.6, but it doesn't work) I have tried a number of things, including uninstall, then installing. I still cant import clips into my library. As I mentioned I also cannot use the capture section in VS7, as it still flickers. jwarner, yes I am following the procedures in the top post, but I still cannot use the video I captured. This is a new problem, I have completed many videos in the past, and I was able to import the clips into the library. It is just recently that I cannot do this.
