Problem after installing patches

Post by bcSteveO »

I have recently installed the MPEG4 iPod patch, the Full_Patch1_5in1 patch and the EU05-0506-01_UVS9F_PVR150.exe patch on VS9 on my Windows XP Home machine. It is a P4 2.8 GHZ machine with 1 GB of memory, an ATI X850 AGP video card with the Hauppauge PVR500 Tuner.

Since installing the patches and rebooting, when I play .dvr-ms files recorded by my Windows media center 2005 server in Windows Media Player, the image appears as a tiny rectangle in the corner of the full screen image - for example:

Code: Select all

+------------------------------------+
| image | |
| here | |
|-----------+ |
| |
| |
| |
+------------------------------------+
Resizing the WMP window has no affect, the image remains this size. This occurs for all .dvr-ms files regardless of when they were recorded. The same files play without any issues on other XP machines in my home network. MPG files are fine. WMV files are fine.

I tried to uninstall these patches, but it appears they cannot be uninstalled.

Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

bcSteveO,

I have a Media Center PC and I recently installed the iPod patch. I also have previously installed the Full_Patch1_5in1 patch and I'm not experiencing the same problem as you. I don't have the same tuner as you but I suspect it is the EU05-0506-01_UVS9F_PVR150.exe patch that's causing you the problem.

Try doing a System Restore to just before you installed the patches. Go to All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore.

You'll have to reinstall the MPEG4 iPod and the Full_Patch1_5in1 patches again.

Hope this helps,
Ron G.

I tried and unfortunately two different restore points failed (after booting System restore says it failed attempting to restore to that checkpoint)

Do you know of any was to manually remove the Hauppauge update?

Thanks

bcSteveO,

Other than a re-install of VS, no.

On some Ulead patches/updates if you try to install it again it will ask if you want to remove the program. If you don't get the message just cancell the operation.
