Video Studio 8 audio problem

After importing the desired clips from a personal DVD, there was no sound when the video was played in Ulead (only video), the sound can only be heard when the file (created by Ulead) is played from the hard drive. I'm guessing this is a codec issue or something. The mute button is not the problem. I also downloaded the AC3 filter, but that didn't solve the problem. Can anyone tell me the problem and how I can fix this?

If it is a free AC-3 filter downloaded from the internet, it lets you capture, but you cannot do anything with the downloaded file except edit and produce a file with another audio format (LPCM or MPEG layer 2) but never Dolby. Or did you buy the AC-3 plug-in from Ulead?

I obtained the AC3 download some time ago, and it did solve the audio problem I was having at the time. However, I notice that with it installed the creation of Dics or Movie files utilizes 100% of the CPU. I am hoping that there may be an update of this AC3 download but cannot find anything on the Ulead web site.

Any ideas??

There is no update of the VS8 AC-3 plug-in. If it is still available on the Ulead website, then it is the version you already have. AC-3 support was built into VS9, which succeeded VS8 nearly a year ago...

The only reason I downloaded the AC3Fliter was cause a friend suggested I do that, but how come I'm having problems with the audio in the first place. I should be hearing sound once I import DVD videos into the VideoStudio program, right?? but that's not the case...
