It seems there are still quite a few of you that downloaded MSP 8 from Elements 5 before Oct 6, 2005, and are using the version that requires internet access to activate.
This program was a Try Before you Buy version, the same version that is in the free download section. Different file name same file size. This version will give you an error when trying to install the hot fix, however you can install the Smart Composer plugin but it hoses your program.
I just installed Smart Composer plugin to the ESD Version of MSP8 I requested from Ulead support MSP8_ESD_Full_E_8.00.0028.exe file size 134,370 KB with hot fix already installed.
Rebooted and ran MSP8 with no problems
It seem that there several download versions of MSP8 that folks are currently using, the only one I have found to accept the fixes and plugins is the version mentioned above.

I must be one of those who downloaded their version of MSP 8 before the 6th of October and therefore have the problem "u32Cfg" like a few others on the boards. Tyamada, you say you requested another version complete with hotfix from Ulead support could you give me a Link or an email address for this version ? I would be extremly grateful. Seems also, reading through other posts that the only way out is a complete re-install, which sucks because I have two projects on the go.

I talked with Element 5 on 1/4/06 the only file they have is the TBYB. You would think that Ulead could pull their heads out of their *** for 5 minutes in the last couple mounths to give Element 5 the corrected fille!! Guess not, must be buisness as usual at Ulead!

You should include your payment information from Elements 5, I just copied my reciept from Elements 5 and requested the version of Media Studio Pro 8 that didn't require internet access to activate.
I recieved a reply the next day with a download address (the link doesn't work anymore).
There used to be a note on the purchase page of MSP8 on Ulead's web site with this information.
