Post by Sarjes »

Hi
I have a VCR hooked up to the WinPvrTv-150. I can copy the vhs and watch it but I can't burn it to a Cd or DVD. I get the message file or file contents are not recongnized? Anyone help?
I really want to copy my VHS to DVD.

Are you saying that you can't even open the MPG file with Movie Factory? I have a Haupppauge card, and the only problems I have are the "usual problems" related to editing MPEGs. If I don't edit the MPEGs, or if I use my special-purpose MPEG editor, everythig works for me.

Your MPEG file may be corrupted. Sometimes a slightly corrupted MPEG will play-back OK, but confuse the heck out of Ulead.

Your file could get corrupted if your computer can't keep-up with the real-time analog capture. This could be caused by a slow computer, or by multitasking during capture. (Hauppauge's hardware MPEG encoder takes most of the load off the computer's CPU, so this shouldn't usually be a problem.)

Hi:

Ulead's movie factory seems to be a very brittle application, particularly in the area of burning DVDs. Witness the number of postings in these forums. I have been battling with this program for some time now (see the postings on the 5003 issue) to no avail.
My suggestion is (a) if you purchased Ulead movie factory as a separate item, return it and get your money back or (b) got it bundled with the TV capture card as I did, forget about it and move on to a real program. I will NEVER buy another ULEAD program, their apps are just too fragile and or badly coded/poorly tested.
I have spent a LOT of time and frustration trying to figure out why with 2 identical installations of MF3SE, one works and the other doesn't. I know it's no help to you but I'd suggest that you don't waste your time on this rubbish program.

If you have Movie Factory 3 or 4 then you can download the plugin for the Hauppauge PVR capture cards. You might find the plugin easier to use.
