getting "cannot find MSP 8 on your system" error - full version is installed of course (but also 7.3)

ideas?

Dave,

I guess it's a "Dave" thing. My name's Dave and I'm having your problems and more.

Downloaded the hotfix today and attempted to install it. Got the same error message you did - "not found on your computer." Downloaded the Smart Compositor plugin and installed it. Then the hotfix installed!! Yippeeee - NOT.

After reboot, MSP8 will not load at all now. I get a "U32cfg" error that says "Ulead.dat" - program will not launch. No support files have been added for MSP8 in the Tech Support section. I guess we're Beta testing after purchase.

If you get a response from Tech Support (usually takes 1 - 2 weeks in my experience), please forward to me at dalbright@triad.rr.com. I'm gonna un-install MSP8 and reload the application from the CD and forget about the updates until they get the hotfix hotfixed.

yea - I just tried the smart compositor plug in and that crashed my complete msp setup with the same Ulead.dat error - without the hotfix even - great

I did conduct a search for "hotfix," "update," "patch," and found nothing related to MSP8 at all. If it was being discussed, it was buried. Results for searches relating to this patch came back "0 Results."

I'm blowing off the hotfix. I've had to reinstalll MSP8 three times today to try every permutation of possibilities. It really shouldn't be this difficult.

I have the same Cfg32 problem after installing the Compositor plug-in. I have NOT (and will not at this point) install the hotfix. I notified Ulead TS and got a courtesy reply back, but nothing as to how to fix. Sounds like I'll have to reinstall.

The first version of MSP8 ESD download required an internet connection and program activation. following a lot of complaints from users of this forum Ulead replaced this version with another that did not require internet activation but entry of a serial number.

The Activation version rejects the hotfix but the serial number version will accept it.

After a few fits and starts Hyde Wu from Ulead sent me a link to the serial number version - I used the serial from the previous installation (write it down before you uninstall)

both the hot fix and smart composter work fine now - this is definitely the fix
