Ulead dvd player 2.0 no audio...help

Post by KLAATU »

When I watch a movie I get no sound. Movies work fine in Media Player or WinDvD. When I try them in the Ulead dvd player 2.0 I get no sound. Everything else seems to be fine. I'm a newbie so any help is welcome. Thank you very much for your time.

Yes, I have the same problem. So do others. See 'Internal dvd/cd writer dvr-r100' by larri314 on Web Board topics.
We are all complaining about it. I use powerDVD by Cyberlink to run my new pioneer dvr-110d DVD. With this software DVD player everything works fine. I think Ulead DVD Player 2.0 is and upgrade from 1.5, but it does not work. You would think they would test it or at least say something about its' flaws. Not a word. I hope the rest of the software is not like the DVD Player 2.0
Good Luck.

hit the Tools icon (little wrench). Check the audio tab, what do you have selected for audio options?

Thanks for the thought I will check the audio tab, later.

Here is the response I got from Ulead.

According to your version, the Dolby Digital support is not included in this version. OEM/SE versions are built specifically according to the request of the OEM partner.

I do not like this response. They are saying it is not their fault. But, they do not tell one the solution. What DVD player software does Ulead provide to be able to play DVD in Dolby Digital mode? I am sure Pioneer who sold the DVD burner/playe are not aware that it does not support Dolby Digital.
I meen PowerDVD by Cyberlink does. I guess I will have to conture looking for good software to support my Pioneer DVR-110D burner/player.

dolby digital audio support requires licensing fees, and so sometimes bundled software cut out some of the features of the full retail version. For instance, I had a bundled version of PowerDVD that did not support Dolby Digital audio, and that could be what's happening with your version of Ulead's DVD Player.

That's why I was curious what options were available/checked in the tools/audio tab...

Unfortunately, is appears there's a scaled down version of DVD Player that does not support DD audio...

So how can I get the full version of Ulead DVD Player 2.0. The technical support did not bother to tell me that. I looked on the Ulead web sight and it does not even mention Ulead DVD Player 2.0. How can I get it upgraded to the good stuff?

you do not have to reply because know one probably reall knows.

you have to purchase the full version of MovieFactory 4. upgrade wont work because OEM versions are not qualified for upgrade.

Thanks, good to know. I guess I should have not bought the OEM version.
Perhaps I will buy the whole package. Who know what else is missing.

Actually OEM software does this when including Roxio or Nero with their burners.

I guess the player was included to playback videos that you created with that version of MovieFactory.

The standard version that supports dolby is $49.00, Not expensive.

I would purchase the retail boxed version for whatever you do.
Ulead, CompUSA, BestBuy, buy.com, amazon.com etc.

Hope this helps,

I had the same problem. To fix it, I took the Panasonic with the horrible Ulead software back to Best Buy and exchanged it for a Sony DVD burner with Nero software. Works perfectly. Panasonic needs to get their 's' together. Ulead, more like Un-lead? Whatever that means.
