Chroma Key tool support

Post by xepedro »

I have just purchased a copy of VideoStudio8 BUT I cannot find any Chroma Key support. Is it there hidden somewhere?

I understand Chroma Key is certaintly supported on on Videostudio 9 - so how can I upgrade from 8 to 9?

Thanks in advance

Try Overlays in the Production Libray and select Blue Screen. Then you can either select Blue or Green Screen. Drag and drop one of these two into your image or video in the Timeline. For different background colours (e.g. black) right click in your mouse on the clip you want to edit. Then select Overlay Options. You will arrive at a window where under Type you will find several options (e.g for black/white colours select Gray Key).
Explore the different types and also play with the various functionalities available. I am sure you will get more professional advice. Meanwhile, ENJOY.

I can say that the chroma key is much easier to use in VS9 and you can get an upgrade from the Ulead website or by searching online. I know there has been a couple of posts recently addressing this. (I just checked and this is the link they reference http://www.academicsuperstore.com/marke ... tNo=731385)

In VS9 you can easily pick the color that you want to use as the chroma key rather than the traditional blue or green screen. I have used it multiple times with VS9. There is also a "tutorial" posted for doing 3D titles that uses chroma key in VS9 at http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=9995. I am sure there are others explaining the use of chroma key, but I am intimately familiar with that one.

Hope that helps some

Not at all sure what fandj is referring to - V8 did not support Chroma-key it was only introduced with V9. And I have no 'Production Library' in any of my versions of VideoStudio - as advised by TubaDad - you need to upgrade to V9 when it becomes very easy to do.

You are right. My mistake, I was referring to Media Studio Pro 8. My advise is to upgrade your VS 8 to 9, where in fact it's very user friendly to work with croma key.

The problem is the second link was to the Tutorial contest. Those message were moved after the message was posted. If you look around in the best tutorial section you will find help with all kinds of things as well as using chroma key.
