Problem change to 16bit audio from camcorder

Post by Alanlim »

I'm using Sony camcorder to record my own family event and use MSP7 to do editing. I have no problem until I changed my camcorder from 12bit audio to 16bit audio. The problem comes when add some title or transition effect on the movie project. It will create distortion noise when preview. But once I removed the title or transition effect and performed a preview, the distortion went away. Is there any way to overcome this problem?

I would appreciate that someone could help me

1) is the original audio still 12 bit and you are converting to 16 bit or is the original 16 bit at 48 kHz?
2) is everything set for 48 kHz?
3) have you updated MSP with Service Pack 3?

Thanks for replied. My camcorder default setting is 12bit. Only can select 12 bit and 16 bit and can’t configure KHZ. This was my first time switched to 16bit audio and resulting gave me distortion problem. I have upgraded to SP3. This video is important to me and hope that there is a solution. Thanks

For some totally unknown reason, some cam makers set the default at 12 bit 32 kHz 4 channel, whereas the logical setting is 16 bit 48 kHz 2 channel (stereo). I know of no case of problems such as you describe. I use 16 bit without any such difficulty. Do you have audio transitions set to auto crossfade?
