I am trying to create mp4 files that are good for anything going forward. Particularly for making DVD and Bluray image files through VS.
My projects contains videos and photos from my Canon camera and cell phone. And the photos are converted into video by VS. I don't want to change anymore than what is causing error. I want everything to play smoothly.
Are you saying there is a way to make the cell videos only compatible with everything else?

Hi friendSkyblue wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 4:42 am I created a project one day and saved a video and it came out fine. The next day wanted to create another video from same project but the progress bar always stopped around 16% before disappearing. The temp save files also disappeared out of save folder. No error messages. Just stops. And yet my computer keeps having less storage with each attempt. Anyone know what could be happening?
With storage loss, deleting temporary files, and projects becoming stuck at 16% completion on a regular basis, there may be a compatibility issue that has to be fixed.Free Fire name

You mention using video from your Canon camera, can you tell us the properties of the Canon video files.
Can you also tell us the Project Properties, Settings Project Properties ( Alt + Enter) Copy and paste the text details from the righthand panel / Properties to your reply here.
In previous posts you have only mentioned the phone video?
As your project is a mix of video types, which type is used the most?
As you are intending to burn a Bluray disc, you are best to convert / render the project for Bluray, to do this we would choose Share AVC/H.264 NOT Mpeg4
The Share AVC/H.264 option you choose would / may depend on the properties of your original videos. Typically --- AVC (1920 x 1080, 60i, 20Mbps), note the 60i
This would create a HD quality video suitable to burn a BD. The file would use .m2t as its extention. ( Motion Transport Stream)
We can then use this HD video to convert to a SD Mpeg2 suitable to burn / create a DVD disc, if that is what you wish to do.
I provided some details on your other post here:-
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=400871#p400871
As mentioned can you give property details of the Canon video and the project properties.

Re: VideoStudio 2018 not saving videos currently.
I found one video from my Canon camera in the project. Most videos were dash cam followed by phone video. The Canon video is 29.97fps, 251kbps, 30134kbps total bitrate.
Project format is set to mobile.
Project properties are:
Mpeg-4 files
24 bit, 1920 x 1080, 29.97fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 5000 kbps
48000Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio : 256 kbps
This is what it shows when "previous setting" is highlighted. And that's what it showed when I opened window.

Re: VideoStudio 2018 not saving videos currently.
Just to be clear. If any video in a project is variable rate, then the outputed larger video will also be variable?
If the project has only constant rate videos, but the rate is different in each video (60fps, 30fps, 29.97fps, 15fps, etc) is the outputed video variable or constant?
What does same as project check box do? Isn't uniforming standards the main thing that happens at the last stage before saving as video?
When looking at video with variable rate's properties, the rate it shows would be an averaged rate of all different rates throughout video? If so, hypothetically a variable rate video could have a 29.97fps average?

Re: VideoStudio 2018 not saving videos currently.
Hi
Video Studio uses a constant frame rate to set the timelines timecode.
Video Studio will always output using a constant rate.
For NTSC that rate is 29.97fps, double that and 59.94fps could be used both are international standards.
For Pal that rate is 25fps or 50fps, both fixed / constant rates.
The timeline of Video Studio has to use a constant rate, lets assume we are working with 29.97fps
If we were to insert a video using 59.97 fps to a 29.97 timeline clearly there are more frames than space on the timeline, Video Studio will remove every alternate frame.
The reverse happened if we add a 29.97 fps to a 59.97 timeline, video studio will duplicate every frame, playback of course will look the same, or should do.
The point is the timelines can only have a fixed rate 25, 50, 29.97, 59.94, generally, there are other rates but all will be a constant rate
Where our videos have different frame rates adding those to the constant timeline, something has to change, adjusted to fit the timelines.
Not really a problem where standard frame rates are used.
Introduce Variable frame rates to the timelines and Video Studio may struggle.
Rendering using Share any profile Mpeg2, Mpeg4, Avchd all use a Constant Frame rate.
Your video clips at 16% were using variable frame rates, rendering to the constant rate may work for some videos, Where we have problems then we recommend using a third party converter to create a standard editable video, for you in the USA 29,97 would be used.
Other issues using the iphone video codecs can also affect rendering, again another reason to convert the variable video files.

Re: VideoStudio 2018 not saving videos currently.
Well that's just the thing. The initial video that Video Studio saved had an odd frame rate which I than assumed was variable. Is there another way to determine variable versus constant other than looking at the property frame rate?
I changed project format to both bluray and AVCHD and checked "same as project settings" and was able to save mp4 or m2t files without changing video clips in project. And I even used one of them to create a bluray image file and the audio remained synced this time.
The issue now seems to be noticeable compression and color contrast issues. Particularly in brighter areas. I tried to maximize the kbps but it is still an issue. It is disconcerting that it initially predicted a 35gb file but only exported an 11gb file. What is the difference between changing profile under project properties versus under Share? And under project properties what do all of the project formats do differently? And wouldn't it be safer to save at 59.94fps to minimize frames being thrown out? I want to maximize the quality no matter the file size. Ideally around 24gb so it can fit on a data bluray. But I have some low light photography of stars in slideshow and any noticeable compression can really fudge that up.

Re: VideoStudio 2018 not saving videos currently.
I created 2nd version of project using constant rate versions of phone video files (converted with handbrake). No more stopping at 16%. Now it's just a matter of making the large mp4 file run as smoothly as possible with minimal compression for a master video for all viewing going forward.
What are best settings for most demanding uses of video?

I messed around with so many settings. Whenever one thing seems solved something new comes up. I have to conclude VS isn't very good at making DVDs and Bluray discs. I have found free apps that have fewer issues.
