I can only offer you three options: 1) Uninstall and reinstall to get version 25.1.0.32 (the latest version of patch #1) or 2) Wait for the Hotfix it will be coming eventually or 3) I can send you a link to the unpatched version of 2023 which does not have these problems. You still need to uninstall and reinstall but it'll be unpatched and you can use the software.

Thank you, LeviFiction and Kathy. I did the uninstall and reinstall as per the thread linked, and the issue is resolved.

I purchased my upgrade to 2023 on 11/23, so maybe the day before they released a fix for the selection expand/contract problem? So I did not even notice until today, but the idea that I have to go through a new install, redo preferences, etc. makes me a bit crazy.

Found the hotfix though, so I will persist with this loved & hated software... :roll:

There is a patch for those who don't want to go through all of that. It's in the Sticky Topic "PaintShop Pro Hot Fixes". Kathy_9 already posted the link but here it is again.
