Restoration and Oval Picture
Forgive me if I am in the wrong section. I am not use to or familiar with using forums like this one. I am also not a frequent user of Paintshop to maintain learned skills. That said,
I have two issues I am facing. How to restore an old picture and how to create a oval layer.
1) How to restore old pictures. I have attached the two pictures that I wish to work with and learn how to do. The picture of the lady facing to the right was emailed to me as a pdf. I printed, then scanned to jpeg. The other picture was simply scanned from the original picture.
2) My wife wants to put these two pictures into an oval frame like the two she already has. I have attached what that oval frame looks like. The picture size of the oval frame is 13-1/2" wide x 20" high. Is it possible to do a layout of each scanned picture onto this size oval frame/layer and the save to be printed on matte?
Thanks for any help and guidance,

Re: Restoration and Oval Picture
Sorry, I'm not of any real help or use to you with your question but I did want to drop off a jpeg version of the PDF you uploaded, just to make sure you're not working from a scan of a print of a scan. I've extracted the scanned image directly from the PDF. Probably won't make a difference but I cringed at hearing how you worked around the PDF issue. PSP can import and work with PDF files directly, but it renders them. I used a program to actually extract the JPG file from the PDF. Which, in my experience, is the better option.

Re: Restoration and Oval Picture
Do you want something like this?
I duplicated the background layer and set the duplicated layer to the Multiply blend mode.
I opened the PDF in PSP with a setting of 600 PPI, cropped the image, and saved as pspimage.I duplicated the background layer and set the duplicated layer to the Multiply blend mode.

If you do Image/Image information you will see that the image I posted is 13-1/2" wide x 20" high.

Re: Restoration and Oval Picture
We could perhaps have a better result if the scan was better.
With the iX500 scanner, you need to scan at 600 DPI and output the file to JPG:

Re: Restoration and Oval Picture
Jean-Luc,
As good as I am with computers, moreso MS Office and programming in Excel, I am just learning all this with PSP. When I click on the image you posted for the size I need and try to save it, it says "Save Page." How do I get that image onto my computer as either jpeg, png, or PSP file in order to work with it and to do the "image/image information? You also make the following statement: "With the iX500 scanner, you need to scan at 600 DPI and output the file to JPG:" I have an Epson Workforce printer/copier/scanner.

Re: Restoration and Oval Picture
First, left click on the image. It'll open up full screen. Then right-click the image at that point and select Save Image.
