VS2022 Template category SPLIT SCREEN using IP-02 Flip to Quarters

Very strange issue.

I am a regular user of the SPLIT SCREEN IP-02 template as a 10 second INTRO sequence using a series of STILL images.

I am on VS2022 and have been using it with no issues for some months.

In a current project, the project plays totally correctly when IN the project.

BUT when I then RENDER/PRODUCE the final film, the INTRO sequence magically gains and extra 10 seconds of BLACK SCREEN, even tho the template itself is 10 seconds. SO when the rendered film plays, I get the correct 10 secs of flipping images, followed by 10 secs of BLACK, followed by the film !!!

I have tried to re-run the edit sequence INSERTING the template IP-02 several times. In all cases IN THE PROJECT the scenes playback precisely as intended, but then when I move to render produce I collect a 10 sec elemend of BLACK screen before the project film starts.

Is anyone else having any similar concerns. Is there anything I can do to FIX. I have NOT tried to CREATE my own split-screen template(s) because the ones in the standard library do the job I need - or at least DID DO the job I need until this latest project. Several other prior projects did NOT have any issues using the very same IP-02 template.

Nothing has changed with my setup. Windows 10 i7 Quad-core Processor 32GB RAM.

NO other issues despite editing 2-3 projects every week.

I would add that the current project where I am having issues is at a SECOND stage of generation. The first stage "rough-cut" complete OK on Monday this week. NO PROBLEMS with the IP-02 template - rendered OK. I have since tweaked other elements of the project content, but NOT TOUCHED the intro template IP-02 - when I then started seeing this issue of magically getting an extra 10 second of BLACK on the rendered film (repeat NOT on the project playback during edit - the playback shows exactly what I expect with NO issues. Its ONLY when I proceed to render that I am given an extra 10 second black screen after the IP-02 intro template plays).

Yes does seem strange
Make sure your project properties are correct.

Can you zip your project file (VSP) and attach to your post, then we should be able to see what you are dealing with.
After we have imported a few clips that is.

Trevor I cannot attach the Smart Package ZIP file as it is way too large for the 10MB limit (ZIP is 17GB - a 40 mins Project with LOTS of clips and from a largish Library structure).

The strange aspect is that when IN the project the PLAY/REVIEW works completely correctly - it is only when rendered that the fault is seen in the MP4 produced.

I was hoping that others may have seen the issue and perhaps found a route to fix.

Looks like I may have to just NOT use the split screen templates.

Trevor was NOT asking for the SmartPackage file which as you have found is huge as it contains all the video, editing, effects, filters, audio etc which have been applied. He was only asking for the project file which is the .*vsp file for the project which is normally stored in C:\Users\[YourName]\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\My Projects and using the vsp extension. These are quite small text files which tell VS what is in the project, where it is stored and what editing has been done. It contains none of the actual video, audio, images, filters etc which are actually used.

I tried ip-02 on new project and I had strange render that I can't replicate. it happen only once.
ip-02 is 10 sec. I was on 50p project so I loaded 2 50p clips and 3 25p ones.
First render was to AVC m2t 50p file and it was 10 sec.
Second render was to mp4 25p file and it came 5 sec....
I did nothing but selecting different codec. the project itself "shrunk"
So I cleared all and started new project again , loaded ip-02
But no "strange" things... multiple tests and clips combinations... all came 10 sec output.

I was able to replace the Jpeg images and MTS files although not all just a few at the beginning to get things running, then things took a turn for the worse.
Rendering to Same as Project was a little slow then I realised your settings were 1280 x 720, the program then did its Not Responding act, seemed a little strange, I had to use End Task to close VS.
I had assumed a frame of 1920 x 1080 given that your video files are MTS.

Second attempt, I updated the project properties to use 1920 x 1080, rendering was again very slow, I am used to working with MTS files.
Not responding again at same place 55%, confused as the timelines look ok?
Another day…. and the program again does its Not Responding again.

Trying again and all seems to work ok, very confused as I cannot see any reason why?

By the way this was yesterday before Asik1 response.
I then tried creating the Split Screen template but having issues accurately setting the sizes of the 4 images.?.?

Asik1-- when you say "shrank" do you mean project length reduced

Yes, for no apparent reason the TL showed a 5 sec project just after the render that came 5 sec.

John, I try again using your VSP, adding my own images and MTS files for the first few clips, I deleted / removed the rest so have a short test project, this time everything worked ok, no problems in rendering.

Thanks to you all for your help in trying to work out my issue. Your comments seem to confirm a "mind of its own" when using the split screen intro feature of VS2022. My own installation continues to be fragile in this one area. Your efforts have confirmed I am not going nuts. I will just cease using the feature until whatever is causing the issue gets fixed. It's a "disposable" aspect of VS but I did quite like how it worked and I used it successfully for dozens of projects. Maybe it's picked up Covid ? Thanks again for your help.

Hi John.
Yep still having problems using Split Screen, when I push it a little the program does its not responding act.
I have been able to create a similar effect using Customise Motion which seems to work ok, its when using the SS editor that things go astray.
You may be best to create your own effects using Customize Motion, if you have not used this tool it is worth the effort.
