[Sticky] - What do you like/not like about PSP2023

We have our own ways to do things from past. So only if programmers come up with something "radical" or "really new ...as way how to get things from past done better or faster" that's only what interests me (perhaps us).
I see quite a few nice features in CorelDRAW but Corel is somehow reluctant to bring those things to PaintShop Pro.

I like:

• the enhanced frame tool and the fact you can now use preset shapes

• the live preview for blend modes

I don't like:

• the elimination of the 32-bit version of PSP

• that Filter Forge 11 is not working (reported to Corel and Filter Forge)

Definitely a reason to NOT delete your last previous PSP version if you also loaded the 32 bit version of it!

I use MediaChance's Plugin Bridge in PSP 2021 64bit and agree that not all old filters will work. One set that does is Filters Unlimited which holds all my FF filters,
For the ones that don't, I copy my image over to PSPX and use the old filter in it.
I don't use old 32 bit filters very often as I prefer to use updated 64 bit Plugins, but having the Plugin Bridge is handy.

I have been using PSP since version 5, when it was still Jasc.
I never skipped a version.
From this version onward, Corel has lost a loyal customer.
The new PSP has nothing new to offer.

I write about PSP for the Dutch speaking PSP community who use it for creative creations only. There are a lot of websites and groups who write creative tutorials.
By making PSP completely 64-bits, they will lose that community as they are still using a lot of the old plugins.
There is also a considerable international community of creative tutorial writers who still use the 32-bits plugins in their work. And even 16-bits.

It was probably inevitable that PSP would become 64-bits only.
For photo editing it is the way forward.
I have been using 64-bits PSP for a while now, but the versions I have, will do me fine.
There is absolutely no incentive for me to buy PSP 2023.

I wouldn't underestimate the amount of loyal buyers who, from now on, will stick to their older versions until they work no more. Unless Corel really re-invents PSP, which seems unlikely.
PSP is still subscription free and Corel is moving towards the subscription models. They recently acquired a cloud service. The new CEO sees the subscription model as the way forward.

It is the end of an era, I think.

Very interesting Jean-Luc, and somewhat sad. I note there is nothing on that Microsoft page to indicate what the subscription version costs. I then went to www.corel.com to see if I could find it, only to find that that page has been totally revised. Now it only seems to advertise CorelDRAW, WinZip and two other programs I have never heard of before: Parallels and MindManager. So then I went to https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/product ... o/ultimate and search as I might, I could still not find a subscription price nor, indeed, any reference to a subscription version. Slightly amusingly, however, I did find this at the bottom of one of the pages: "Buy it once, it’s yours forever."

I believe this subscription option has been around for a while but only in the Microsoft Store. And yeah, the lack of pricing is annoying. Even contacting Support they wouldn't give me pricing out right. I had to install the trial from the store first to get the cost. It costs essentially the same as the full versio4n every year. $7.99 per month or $80 per year.

Parallels is for MacOS it's essentially a VM for Windows to run Windows apps in MacOS.

Looks like Microsoft is becoming more and more of a scam outfit. And Corel is participating in it by not providing - up front on their own pages - the actual costs as well as any limitations of the supposed "free" month. And just the idea of having a subscription option that costs the same in a year as the one-time purchase forever of the program is basically a ripoff.

IMHO, the best bet for everyone is to keep the best PSP version they like that includes the 32bit option for legacy plugin use and be happy. It sounds as if it won't be long before there will be no one-time purchase option available from Corel in the near future. I still have my standalone, subscription free version of Photoshop CS6 (64 and 32bit) which, if I do need it for any reason, definitely is all I need.

Wholeheartedly agree there with you.
I am trialling 2023 now for the Dutch community, but had already decided this version had not enough to offer to tempt me.
I will not be sorry to see it go after the trial period.

How sad, really. The demise of a very popular program/app. Joy of use versus mega profits. The joy loses out.

Also, I personally don't think they offer a big enough discount for upgrades.
Especially considering the fact that a new version is released yearly with minimal benefits.
