loading DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro in Windows 7

Post by Neutron42 »

Suddenly in 2022, I had an out-of-the-blue need to make a DVD after about 9 years of not using DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro.
I was running Windows XP when I bought DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro.
Since I don't have any Windows XP machines running now, I had to reinstall in Windows 7 Professional.
The install into Windows 7 had roadblock after roadblock!
After a few hours of fighting the error messages I got MovieFactory 7 Pro going in Windows 7.

Here were the steps I had to take:
1. run the DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro installer
2. enter my purchase key
3. go download the MovieFactory 7 patches at https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/
4. run patch 1, the 3-in-one patch
5. run patch 2, for Windows 7 compatibility

Then, I found that MovieFactory crashed with a DLL error message when I tried to open a video file.

This occurs when there are multiple versions of Intel openMP library DLLs on your computer.
Intel's steps of how-to fix the problem are clearly detailed on this Cyberlink webpage.
https://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-c ... o?id=12820

6. follow the steps for Windows 7:
1. Click Start > Control Panel.
2. Click System and Security > System > Advanced Settings in the left pane.
3. Click Environmental Variables at the bottom of the dialog box.
4. In the User Variables section, click New.
5. Enter the variable name KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK (name must contain capital letters and underscores).
6. Enter the variable value TRUE and click OK.
7. In the System Variables section, click New.
8. Enter the variable name KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK.
9. Enter the variable value TRUE and click OK.
After the Intel DLL problem was fixed, another DLL problem was unveiled:
"Error: 'No DLLS were Found in the Waterfall Procedure'"
I did some searching and found this was related to having GoPro Studio loaded on the PC.
https://www.sevenforums.com/software/29 ... olved.html
In some cases after installing GoPro Studio, other applications may report an error that states: "Error at loading if ippSP library - No DLLS were Found in the Waterfall procedure".
If this occurs the solution is to browse to: C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and then remove these files:
ippcore-6.1
ippj-6.1
ippjw7-6 .. 1
IPPS-6.1
ippvc-6.1
7. I moved these files to a folder I named "quarantine" and rebooted.

After performing all these steps, DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro finally worked on my Windows 7 PC.
Best wishes!
Eric

Hi Eric
and welcome to the forums
Thanks for the info a lot of work gone into that although I doubt many will be using DVD MovieFactory nor running W7
I assume you are aware that Video Studio does have its own authoring options to burn DVD and Bluray via Share – Disc – Save project to disc, choose one of the options.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been using Corel (Ulead) video products since the early 2000s.
This is the first time I had roadblocks to getting Corel (Ulead) software loaded and working.

Yes, I am aware that VideoStudio 2022 exists.
My goal here was to continue to use the DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro software that I already paid for, and am familiar with.
Since there are no upgrade discounts for DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro users, I would have to pay full price for VideoStudio 2022, in order to regain the DVD creation functionality I already have with DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro.

If there are any others in the same situation, I hope this how-to helps them.

Hi Eric
I was a little confused as your comment ”Suddenly in 2022,”
I assumed referring to Video Studio 2022 that you owned. Doh

Now I realise it was referring to the year, must be old age.
