Re: resize image to exact dimensions
Do you want to stretch/squash everything to fit those dimensions or do you want to crop (cut off) the excess areas of the image to bring it down? Because I have three methods.
All assume be you are in the complete edit workspace and not the Photos workspace that newer versions of PSP default to.
1) Resize. Go to the menu Image -> Resize. Click the "Advanced settings" checkbox at the bottom of it isn't already. And uncheck " maintain aspect ratio". You can now freely resize both sides to any size you want and they will squash and stretch the image to fit.
2) Canvas Size - Image -> Canvas Size command let's you change the size of the canvas your layers sit upon. This is slightly different from cropping as it doesn't delete anything it just makes the area that's available to the age smaller. Just set the new pixel size, click the middle button in the grid of 9 buttons to make sure it stays centered in the canvas. Once it's centered you should be able to move the layer to better fit where you want the image cropped off at.
3) Use the crop tool - on the tool options palette at the top of the screen when you have the crop tool selected there is an area for pixel dimensions. Make sure "maintain aspect ratio" is deselected so that you can set any pixel width and height. Move the crop rectangle where you want it and apply the crop. The edges will be deleted and the canvas resized to match.

Re: resize image to exact dimensions
Hi and thanks for your reply
1) Resize. doesnt seem to give option to change only one side
2) Canvas size only changes the canvas and not the image
3) Crop tool. I cannot see anywhere with pixel dimensions or maintain aspect ratio?
I need a little more help!

Re: resize image to exact dimensions
So you don't want to crop or canvas size. As I said crop deletes data, it doesn't resize. You want it to actually resample and warp the image slightly. The only one that does is the resize command.
With resize, set one side equal to the current size and set the other side equal to the new side. But as I mentioned above you need to turn off the aspect ratio option in the advanced options so you can set one side separate from the other

Re: resize image to exact dimensions
Hi legepe,
I think you are not working with the same configuration:
Be sure you use the Complete Workspace and Edit tab/mode.
Remove the tabbed document mode: go to Window/uncheck Tabbed Documents.
Click on View/Palettes/Tool Options.
About the Canvas resize solution LeviFiction suggested, if you give the exact pixels dimension you want, you will get a smaller canvas than your image. So, you will be able to move the image where you want.

Re: resize image to exact dimensions
If you want the image squished or stretched, then resize is the best way to do it. You have to UNCHECK "Lock Aspect Ratio". Then you can freely resize Width and Height individually and make the image whatever dimensions that you want.
