As a newbie, I am restricted as to where I can post a request. I thought the General Information forum would be appropriate, but I cannot open up a New Topic. After a review please move this to an appropriate forum perhaps with a Subject of “Uninstalling software”.

Thanks in advance for your help.

————————————————————————————————————————————

What is the best method of uninstalling two recently installed apps … PaintShop Pro Ultimate 2022 and VideoStudio Ultimate 2021?

I have Revo Uninstaller Pro which I could use or through the Windows 10 Control Panel. Research did not find any specific Corel provided tools for the uninstall of these versions. The initial installs were very lengthy, time consuming and seem to have many files which ended up taking up about 20+GB on my SSD system drive.

Much appreciated for any suggestions.

Background:

I recently ordered current available upgrades for PaintShop Pro Ultimate and VideoStudio Ultimate. The order was processed and I received emails providing download links and new registration numbers. I downloaded and installed the software. The install went well, albeit lengthy. I had to manually register a couple of the apps that came with the upgrades which was not an issue.

When the charges went through my credit card I noticed some billing errors and contacted Cleverbridge which is the standard procedure for payment issues. Unfortunately, they could not make the required adjustments and instead refunded the entire charges with the suggestion to contact Corel to reorder.

I advised Corel of the issue and said I would reorder when the credits were processed.

There does not appear to be any means of updating the registration numbers for the various apps other than reinstalling via the download with new numbers provided through the order process.

Bob
Welcome to the forums
I was intending to move the post to forum Chat but as it is associated with uninstalling this Topic is as good as any
You should be able to post to any forums by first selecting the forum from popular products, then top left you should see a New Topic option in red.
First we do not work for Corel, we are volunteers helping with the forums so cannot help with actual purchases or serial numbers.

That is true, but do the programs run without problems……
Are you saying that non of the programs work or install because their serial numbers have been disabled?

Uninstalling Corel Programs
I assume eventually you are intending to install these programs again if so I would opt for the windows Program and Features assuming there is no issues with running the programs.

Using the Clean-up tools when we have additional problems.
Revo could be used but again I only use when having other problems for a deeper clean.

Uninstalling PSP is a little more involved especially if you have installed the additional packages. Otherwise a Cleanup tool for PSP main program is available.

Understood. The General Information forum did not have the New Topic option. Perhaps because I was/am a "newbie".

I never tried out the upgrades because I received a refund from Cleverbridge due to billing issues and did not want to run the upgraded apps that were not legitimately registered.

Research pointed out many issues with using the Windows uninstall process ... namely, leftover files and the need to manually cleanout the Registry. I have cleaned out Registry items in the past and not for the faint-of-heart! :)

There are no Cleanup Tools for the current versions ... from what I have seen. Thus, my rational to use Revo.

I am still awaiting a response from Corel regarding their end of the billing process. Regardless, I took the initiative to uninstall all my VideoStudio apps with Revo Uninstaller Pro which allowed the uninstall process to use Corel's normal uninstall feature and when completed, Revo identified all the leftover files and folders and I allowed Revo to finish the process. All went well.

I then logged onto the Corel site and repeated the order process for the VS Ultimate 2021 app. This time the billing was OK. I downloaded and installed the upgrade will no issues. All is well with VS at this point.

Thanks for your response ... much appreciated

Yes, there is a cleanup tool for VideoStudio 2020. However, they've put in on google drive rather than a Corel support site. It did the job quickly. No problems whatsoever in my case.
URL: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... wZibCX4K9g
Look for the file named: VS2020_Cleanup.exe
Download and execute. At your own risk of course :)

Thanks for your post. Just wondering, though, how you found that. You said "they've put in on google drive", but I'm wondering if you know who "they" are? Glad it worked for you, though...

Hello Ken, in this case "they" is Corel support. An agent shared it with me during a chat. The tool instantly identified and listed the modules I wasn't able to uninstall (including the VS2020 program itself) and removed them quickly. It's difficult to know if it caught all the registry entries as well, but I'm happy with the results.

Thanks -- and good to know it was Corel that shared it with you. At least now, I believe, we can put that tool on our own website...

One other thing, Michael: did Corel Support give you any warning about the tool possibly affecting earlier versions of VS as well as VS 2020? Or that they were only giving it to you on a case by case basis?

Hi Ken, no, the agent didn't mention anything about the possibility of other versions being affected. Our conversation was limited to discussing VS2020. However, in regard to your question I just ran the cleanup executable again to see if anything helpful would come up. If you look at the attached screenshot, it seems to look exclusively for 2020. Just a guess, but since the utility does identify what it's searching for, I would imagine if other versions were involved, they would be listed along with VideoStudio 2020. If so, the user would then the opportunity to abort the cleanup. You do need to click the "Start Cleanup" button at the bottom to initiate the cleanup process.

No, nothing along those lines. He just stated that the tool was available, and that he would send a link to me by email. So, the email arrived shortly after our chat as promised. I do believe the email was sent through Corel as I've already received a system generated follow-up asking if my issue has been resolved, etc... Honestly, why they haven't shared it through the expected channel is a mystery to me as well. Google drive is a bit unconventional I'll admit.

No, clearly the Support person who sent it to you has a corel.com email address, so no worry there. Just want to clarify things before Trevor and I add it to our own cleanup tools thread here on the forum.

We now need the clean-up tool of VideoStudio 2022. It will be useful when we have some problems.
Hope, love, and everything grows
