My Corel Paint Shop Pro 2020 Interface Does NOT Display Text Tool.

Post by VWP1 »

I have been researching and digging everywhere to learn how to create text onto a pre-existing JPEG. I recently purchased PSP 2020 this Summer (2020) and the text tool is not visible. I Googled it, but no resulting help.

Please help; I can upload an image of my display. The only hewlp I found was to: "Click on the text tool" but I have to HAVE one first.

I'm not sure why you posted this originally in the AfterShot Pro forum. So I have moved it to the PaintShop Pro forum since you are more likely to get sensible suggestions there.

I've attached an image of where the Text Tool can be found. That image was taken in the Essentials workspace of PSP. However, it is also there in the Complete workspace. So you should have it either way. If it does not appear in that palette, then I suggest you reset PSP by holding down the Shift key when you click on the desktop PSP icon to open the program. You should then be asked if you want to reset. Make sure you save any customized workspace you may have made before you do this or otherwise it will be lost in the reset.

Your image shows that you are in the Photography workspace. Right click in a blank space of the Menu bar at the top of screen and choose either Complete or Essentials. I would recommend Complete, but both Complete and Essentials has the T for Text Tool.

Once again, Corel screwed things up for not real benefit to users. First it was adding the Essential workspace that confused multi people. Now they have added even more workspaces and just added to the number of users they can confuse. And all for no useful purpose except to market the program as "new and improved with new features!"

to be honest its happens all the time with almost every product
I even think it’s due to the fact that they need people to talk about it=)

Is it not ironic that PSP and Corel's "success" with it was based on in effect the complete workspace.
It was sufficient to bring about its success and was sufficient without all the Photography Workspace, Sea to Sky and all these add ons and plugins that have taken space, computing power and often caused conflicts.
Many of the tutorials, and videos are based upon this complete workspace and for new people starting with PSP there is plenty of help.
Now to make it "simpler" the wisekids at Corel have introduced the Photogrophy workspace and made this or the welcome screen the default but it does not allow the new people to use the vast amount of tutorials unless they can find the Complete workspace. And so we have so many requests for help based on the posters not being able to find the Complete workspace.

Would be best for Corel to have the default be the Complete workspace just as it was successfully started. Then have clear instructions about how to get to the other workspaces but have the default Complete workspace automatically saved so if beginners make a mess they can always reload the Complete Workspace.

Ken - I'll see your 200% and raise it to 1000%. PSP is getting too clunky and weighed down with all the silly workspaces.
