Help migrating from Lightroom 6: how do import photos and keywords?

Post by YetAnotherLR »

I am considering switching from Lightroom 6 to Aftershot Pro. However, while other competitor programs go to great lengths to explain how best to import a Lightroom catalog, I have found no such information for AfterShot Pro.
Can you please help me understand how to go about it?
  • I use Lightroom 6 on Windows 10
  • Most of my photos are DNG, converted from Sony and Panasonic raw files. I understand ASP doesn't support these DNGs.
  • Even if it did support DNGs, would the best way to import photos still be to export TIFFs or high-quality JPGs from Lightroom, because there can never be a guarantee that another software would apply the edits the same way? Eg another software can read "brightness -10, but would then probably apply the brightness change differently)
  • How shall I export all the keywords? How about the picked flag, can I export those, too, or do I have to create keywords based on the picked flag and use those?
  • Is there a better/ easier / faster way to do it?

Why in God's name would you want to move from a functional, effective, high quality converter like LightRoom to an unusable, unsupported, image-quality destroying abandonware crapfest like AfterShot?

Seriously - stupid, stupid idea.
