Profile Sony A7 II in After Shot Pro 3

Post by vermundus »

Hello community,

I was looking for a profile for the Sony A7 II - but could only find profiles for A7s II or the A7 III.
Is there no profile yet - or am I searching at the wrong spot?

Thanks in advance,

Sven

That's all I can see in my version.
Back in September 2019 I got a Sony RX10 IV but still there is only the RX10 III as a profile. ASP wouldn't even display the raw files. Since the mk4 is very similar to the mk3, I hacked the ASP profiles and added it. (A test I did was to use exiftool.exe to change the camera name from RX10 IV to RX10 III in the raw image files and they showed up OK.)
Now I can use ASP for both my Nikon and Sony.

If your think the A7 II has the same sensor and file layout of a supported camera it may be possible to add it to the profiles. The hack isn't too difficult - just adding some lines to a couple of files.
I recall posting the method but I did make notes for my own reference so shout if it could be of help. Changing the camera name in a raw file would be a first step.

Oh hi - and thanks for the answer!

I am totally new to After Shot Pro (and a professional camera) - so I think I will not tweak any existing profile of another model at the moment.
There are so many aspects I still have to learn - maybe I will have to shout later... :-)

I was just confused because I expected the Sony A7 II to be not that exotic...

Cheers,

Sven
