For two nights in a row, I have tried to sign up as a beta tester. I am confronted with an Incorrect notice when I do. I have tried to trigger a password reset, but I have not received anything. Clearly, the functionality is broken,
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Exactly where in the process do you get this message and what exactly does it say? Have you reached the stage where you have to fill in a questionnaire or before or after that? Have you chosen a username (which is not an email address)?

I got to the "sign me up" page and then the "get started" page. This is the same page as the Login page, where I could not log in (got an "Incorrect Email Address or Password" message). I then exercised the "Forgot Password?" option and filled out my email address yet again. It promised to send me something. I'm still waiting.

You have to click on Get Started first which allows you to type in your email address . A mail is sent to you with a link to allow you to confirm your email address first and take you back to a page where you type in your name etc and also choose what Log in name and password you will use for future logins as a member.

I ask only common question boys.

How it is possible that Corel has so many bata testers, but most releases has many defects and is usable only after SP1 or Sp2?

Take this question lightly... 8)

Several reasons

1) They can only fix bugs that are reported by the testers, or that they find in their own internal testing, and not everyone sees every bug or thinks to use PSP in a certain way. Or thinks of every "bad decision" as a bug.

2) Time limits, they cannot indefinitely hold off on releasing a version of PSP until every bug is fixed. They just run out of time, and it's considered relatively stable, so they release it hoping to fix more in the service pack.

3) Some bugs are introduced in the final version after the beta testers have finished their job that are unexpected.

Further to @LeviFiction's post (above this one), I'm curious as to why - given that there are so many complaints about the way the Crop tool works (or doesn't work as the case may be) since the 2018 release - why none of the Beta testers flagged that as an issue with Corel during both the 2018 and 2019 testing phase? I realize that Corel doesn't consider it a but a feature. But aren't Beta testers also supposed to flag Corel about "features" that are not improvements but are annoying, or simply not conventional and therefore could prove both inconvenient AND annoying, or simply don't improve the long term user's workflow?

I hope that all of the Beta testers being called and recruited here will flag those things, and particularly flag the new crappy Crop tool behavior. And at least suggest that an option be provided to allow users to choose the legacy behavior of the Crop tool!

JoeB

Are you sure it wasn't flagged as an issue? Inaction by Corel is not the same as inaction by the testers. Corel sets its own priorities.

Good point! Perhaps the previous testers can tell us if it was flagged and just ignored by Corel. Just a thought....

Well, I just installed some old products to track down the history of the Crop tool. It seems like PSP-10 initiated a cm and inches Crop tool. Some time between x4 and x6 they updated the Crop Tool from useless physical dimensions to the multiple aspect ratios we see today. Quite an improvement, but it took them five or six years to see the light.

Majority of testers did not like the change in the crop tool. As LeviFiction says, Corel managers have their own ideas about features.

So much for Corel's claims that they release new versions with new features that reflect the desires and requests they get from user feedback. Not that I believed them anyway. :-(
