Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
It now seems to have been mothballed completely into abandonware heaven a very loooong time ago.achillepr wrote:Future version? Are you sure that will be there a future version? Corel doesn't seem so interested to this program.

As a longtime user ever back since it was called Bibble Pro 4, their almost daily advertisements the last months in my Facebook feed and elsewhere on the internet, feels more like an insult than anything else. It once was a very good program and raw converter. I used it as my primary organizing and editing tool for all my images, but the continuous lack of support and development has made me move elsewhere as it has lagged behind it's competition more and more.
I had for long hoped that they some day would invest some resources into the program and at the minimum keep it afloat, but to no avail. Good luck...
Long time AfterShot Pro & Bibble user...

I'm afraid you're right. It is unlikely to get a new version from Corel. Too bad, if they changed few things, they would get much more attention from users.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
Hi sorry for very late response! I am using Pentax KP which is not recognized by ASP3. I have started using On1 Photo RAW and ACDSee Ultimate instead thus I haven't been in here lately.isierna wrote:Hi T_Young,

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
As much as I have liked Bibble and subsequently AfterShot Pro, I am losing hope in this product... I think we can call this product end of life since no new cameras are being supported... Sad!

It would be really good if AftershotPro could save files in PSPImage format.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
This is a great list of nice feature, but my question is...will there be a new version with new features. AfterShot 4.
As I can see on the Corel website, they are looking for beta testers for the main applications, but no Aftershot.
I am wondering if AfterShot is still in development, or maybe is embedded in Paint Shop Pro in the future.

1. This should be a survey with voting totals for different suggestions.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
Hi kumsa
"2. I'd love to see a PNG export"
This is partly from afx ASG (AfterShotSurvivalGuide) Book:
AfterShotSurvivalGuide
"Generating PNGs
AfterShot 5 does not support generating PNG files. It is quite easy
to use the ImageMagick convert command to convert images.
However, we cannot use this command directly, as we also need
to change the filename to reflect the changed file type. Therefore,
shell scripts are used as a front-end to the actual processing command.
For Windows, we use genpng.bat. For Mac OS and Linux, we
use genpng.sh:
genpng.bat
@echo off
"C:\Programs\ImageMagick\convert.exe" "%1" "%~p1\%~n1.png"
del "%1"
genpng.sh
#!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/convert "$1" "${1%%.tif}.png"
rm "$1"
These scripts assume a TIFF queue for generation of the intermediate
file. We need to create filename.png from filename.tif, which is
handled differently on Windows than on Mac OS and Linux, resulting
in the need for two different scripts. The last part of the convert
command-line in each of the scripts performs the required substitution
of the file extension. The path names to the convert command
might not be identical on your system.
The logic used here can be used for much more complex scripts
that add watermarks or borders or to generate captions.
Before you integrate any command or script into a queue, run it on the
command line to ensure that it works as anticipated."
https://imagemagick.org/script/download.php
My suggestion:
another way (example for linux - but nconvert is available for win too):
/usr/bin/nconvert -out png -q 93 -opthuff -resize 640 640 -ratio -rflag orient -rtype lanczos %1
https://www.xnview.com/de/nconvert/
https://www.xnview.com/en/nconvert/
Hope this helps!

New camera profiles!
External option for Affinity Photo whereas image can be exported, worked on in Affinity then saved back to ASP.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
It is sad Corel does not keep users up-to-date. They keep advertising ASP3 but are failing to keep things (camera profiles, etc.) current. Would be nice to hear something from Corel on whether or not they plan on keeping life to this program. It has much potential. Maybe new owners of Corel will pump needed funds into keeping this product current and alive.Arnfinn wrote:It now seems to have been mothballed completely into abandonware heaven a very loooong time ago.achillepr wrote:Future version?
