I just came here after a long absence to check if at least my new camera for lens correction is now supported after my previous one (Panasonic LX100) wasn't, which was very disappointing to me and rendered After Shot Pro 3 useless to me. So I come here to learn that the new Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 isn't supported eiter nor any of the lenses I own. So Corel is dead. I just checked on a company license of Adobe LR from my employer and I can see they did the job.

Good bye COREL. This were very dissatisfactionary 2,5 years with wasted money for two versions of AfterShot Pro, 1 Versions of PaintShoptPro Ultimate and 2 Versions of Video Studio Ultimate.

If COREL doesn't get more drive in supporting the nearly ALL and QUICK the flag ships of each camera manufacturere (LX100 and GH5 certainly were each in its category), then COREL is soon dead fish.

I need to say clear words to this Company. Because I'm now going to use my employer PC and the Adobe LR licenese todo my private stuff. You will loose if you continue like this.

my wish is that Corel:
- more enthusiastic in creation of lens correction profiles more frequent and outside the normal update cycle. From my understanding since I edited them myself this txt files could be exchanged very simple
- adds vignetting correction to the lens correction database
- adds chromatic aberration correction to the lens correction database
- supports the correction information the camera puts into the EXIF of the RAW's
- makes a switch in ASP that allows either to choose/apply:
- lens correction from ASP database
- correction information included in RAW EXIF
- no correction

Actually, I'd like Corel to stop trying to keep up with the numerous cameras and lenses out there and their respective vignetting and distortion. This stuff has already been crowdsourced at http://lensfun.sourceforge.net/lenslist/ so all they have to do is make AfterShot compatible with that data. It's really lame and annoying to have to keep fighting with ASP every time I get a new lens or borrow one from someone and then realize it's listed as "uncalibrated" in ASP.

At least provide written instructions, easily found, for users to convert the XML data at LensFun into whatever format ASP wants. I tried doing it for a Nikon 55-300mm VR lens and gave up trying to figure out how to map the kl and vignetting data into the cal_abc format that ASP uses.

Just saw this. Well yes, this would be a good solution, too. I agree. As long as I get this damn corections working in ASP. I tried it for 1.5 years myself to no success. I'm not having a Linux to do these lensfun stuff myself. I expect that from a software like ASP that wants to be a player on the market.

Better noise reduction- especially for color noise in shadows. ASP is really poor- using Raw Noise and Perfectly Clear Noise Removal together at max settings still leaves spots on a daylight ISO 200 image. Have to end up using Topaz Denoise in PaintShop Pro to get it all.

Don't know whether it's already mentioned:

- More calibrated lenses or possibility to import calibrations
- Possibility to refresh catalog (remove photos from catalog that are moved/deleted in filesystem)
- Move folders within catalog

refresh catalog: now I try to work only in the catalog and delete in catalog mode
move workaround: create new folder within Catalog - move (copy and delete) pictures - delete empty folder

what I really miss:
1 rescan for new images (e.g. panoramas I made outside of ASP) my workaround here - place them in a new subfolder and mark them with a color lable and import them
2 automatic naming and reimport of images made with HDR-tool
3 and very important watched folders like in bibble 5

If you really believe that this is all that Corel needs to do in order to make ASP worth the effort of downloading, I suggest that you spend some time looking around this forum - a couple of added features (which are not "essentials", just because you might want them) will go nowhere near to fixing the many, many, fundamental, show-stopping failings and inadequacies this dismal programme has continued to serve up for years.

In fact, it's the habit of adding bells and whistles to ASP while ignoring major, long-standing bugs and image quality issues (a practice started by Bibble, continued by Corel) that's at the heart of it being such an utterly shambolic mess now.

If you were really bothered about getting a full-featured, high-quality Raw processor, you'd move to Windows or Mac and use one of the many such high-quality solutions available to those OS'.

Sort your priorities out, and you'd be able to turn your back on ASP once and for all which - believe me - is the only smart move if you are interested in any way in image quality. Surely that's your priority?

Corel has seemed to abandon any work on ASP- haven't heard anything from beta testing in a long long time.

concerning an other post from you about denoise: yes, I also don't like Perfect Clear NR but I found out that playing with some parameters helps to get better results (for many/not all situations):
I turn off raw noise completely, lower sharpening increase sharpening threshold, sharpening max 333 or lower, threshold min 33 (default is 6), turn off local contrast, reduce (or take default) contrast and saturation, vibrance, no or minimal fill-light- and PC-NR 25 and detail 9 - this gives a good look (I have no problem with luminance noise ...) for me.
For better results I make color changes in ASP, export to NeatImage NR (16bit tif) and then apply addition settings again in ASP ...

If it wasn't for the Wavelet Denoise plugin I couldn't adequately clean up images without exporting and using Topaz Denoise. The default NR tools in ASP are totally inadequate, including Perfectly Clear.
Mostly I use DFx Optics Pro now with Prime NR, but I use ASP for RAW images from an older Panasonic that DFx doesn't support.

I would second other requests to get RAW support for new cameras. I recently upgraded my Pentax camera to a newer model and found that it is not supported but has been on the market for a year! It disrupts my workflow and as much as I like Aftershot Pro I need to start looking elsewhere if the support for new cameras is this bad.

Smugmug integration is probably a useful thing but the roots for Aftershot lies in the RAW support, otherwise you will run out of customers.
