Clean-Up tool for Video Studio

Post by lata »

Hi
Uninstalling Video Studio
You are advised to first use Programs and Features to uninstall the program
If you still experience problems then using the Clean-up tools may help.

Attached are Cleanup Tools for Corel Video Studio used to Uninstall the program.

The term Version Collisions has been used by Corel Support to explain how multiple installations of video studio could affect the latest installed version.
We have always said that it is possible to install several versions without problems although I believe these should be installed in order of oldest first.

The programs do share some common files and installing the latest version last will ensure the most current files are used.
Corel Support have now advised the use of the Clean-Up tools, and indeed to run the tool several times to ensure everything is removed, you should also re-boot the pc after using the tools.

Please note the cleanup tool will not remove the personal data files typically for CVSX9….
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0
or
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\19.0
and
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\19.0

These can be deleted after uninstalling the program.
Please take care when deleting files not to remove your project files (****** .VSP) or video / images etc.

Please note.....
The Clean-Up tool for Video Studio 2020 and 2021 is available with a word of warning that this will affect previous versions of video studio despite the tool perhaps only identifying the target VS when it opens, when previous versions are in fact installed.
The programs use of plugins / Prodad / MCCL etc. being shared over video studio versions are particularly vulnerable. Problems can of course be fixed by re-installing the affected plugin.
Where only one version of Video Studio is installed then there should be no issues. With that in mind It may be best to only install the latest version of Video Studio given that projects cannot be shared with previous versions.
We do advise that the use of the tools are as a last resort when uninstalling using Program and Features fails to cure problems.”

Thank you for posting this.

I had VSX8 and X9 previously installed on this PC. Yesterday, I used W10 "uninstall" for X9 and I have already installed X10 Ultimate.

I'd like to know if I can use your removal tools (for 8 and 9) now without harming the X10 installation.

Thanks in advance,

Russ

Hi

The cleanup tools are version specific so X8 cleanup will only affect x8 files.

Please read the first post here regarding left over files.

Thanks for your response. I see now that these tools should be used when there is a problem with the Windows uninstall process.

Is there a tool for the VS2018?

Post updated by Admin
As soon as a Cleanup Tool is available we will add it to the list.
For the time being please use Program and Features to uninstall the program as detailed on original post.

I have asked Corel for their comments regarding this tool.

Thanks Lata for posting this.

I would like your advice concerning the clash between versions of videostudio.

Problem 1.
My current PC has VSX10 Ultimate and VS2018 Ultimate installed, both are 64bit installations.

Can you confirm that these two versions do compromise each other ?

Generally my installation of VSX10 works very well but VS2018 does everything but render the project (I have checked settings and these are good).

I now prefer to keep the VS2018 as the only install here if indeed there are issues with VSX10 and 2018 coexisting.

Do you recommend to delete both versions from the Win10 control panel and then run the cleanup tool on each. Is the order important ?
Do we have to worry about deleting or repairing add ons like Boris, Newblu etc

Problem 2
My old PC has all videostudio versions installed from Corel VSX4 Ultimate to VS2018 Ultimate, no problems until VS2018 arrived. I have saved all my projects on this PC as smart packages from each version.
I guess that it is time to move on and just use VS2018 Ultimate here as well. VS2018 does not render on this PC either by the way.
How do I complete this task and in which order do I remove and cleanup ?

Cheers
Alex.

Hi Alex
Many users do install several versions of Video Studio without problems
Installing X10 and 2018 in that order should not be a problem
Corel Support did say that where problems persist we should uninstall all versions to overcome what they described as a Version Conflict.
Uninstalling the program via Program and Features will give the option to remove personal settings
That will remove the library and of course should fix any problems within the library.
This uninstall only removes the program and not additional plugins provided by the program.
The Cleanup Tool for 2018 will remove the program and all plugins, MyDVD, Mercalli Etc.
For X10 those will remain to be uninstalled individually, although that may not be required.
However the Cleanup Tool does not remove the personal data, so when re-installing the libraries will be intact, unfortunately with any existing problems.
The personal data is saved in a folder here……….
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\22.0
This folder (22.0) is also used to reset the program…….
http://lata.me.uk/corel/reset/reset.htm

Ok as you are having problems in rendering using both programs I would uninstall both programs using the Cleanup tool
Then rename the 21 and 22 folders to apply the reset.
Install X10 and fully update
Install 2018.
It does seem very strange that you cannot render using both programs.
Do you get any error messages when you try to render.
If its The file may be write-protected read this post
