Need some help here.

Unable to save this GIF made from an AVI video.

What caused this?

318 frames is rather excessive, for one. Secondly, it's a large image. GA 5 tends to choke on such huge animations - large number of frames, and a large image area.

Try "zooming out" Image so the image on the workspace is really tiny, and optimize again. Doing that does keep GA 5 from crashing during optimizing sometimes. I was just able to optimize an avi file that was 196 MB, 391 frames, 640 x 480 doing that zoom out. Took a while, though.

When the optimization setttings are set to use a global palette, GA5 is looking at every frame, and trying to find the closest 256 colors (or whatever you have the settings at) that would work for all frames. If you have a large number of objects and frames, with a wide range of colors, it can fail.
Image On the optimize panel, select "preserve local palette." You may also have to deselect "remove redundant pixels."

Something that big may be best saved in SWF format.
