Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
I don't understand why Aftershot Pro doesn't support Adobe's DNG?!
With all this talk of legacy formats going the way of the dinosaur I think supporting a reasonably popular RAW format will only be beneficial.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
I'm afraid this is way too complex to implement since there are so many differences in the basic concepts of LR and ASP, beginning with completely different demosaicing algorithms, different handling of adjustment layers, different toolsets for i.e. perspective corrections etc. ...sarthak wrote:#4: Lightroom 5 import tool. If Corel really wants to draw users away from other platforms, it needs to provide a means of retaining all the years of work done in other software (adjustments). This does seem very complex to implement ...

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
Because DNG is NOT a standard but just something Adobe has produced for their own benefit.Snaphaan wrote:I don't understand why Aftershot Pro doesn't support Adobe's DNG?!

DNG is a TIFF-like format proposed by Adobe unless you are talking about the various DNG RAW file types e.g the Leica one.
If you want to do the research then start by looking at the OpenRAW site and its supporters.
Still learning after all these years!

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
Just did a series of photo's trying to learn how to use a new-to-me vintage lens (A Tamron 200-400 F/5.6) on my D610.
I noticed in Nikons free viewer ViewNX2 that the focal point is highlighted in red (if it locked onto a focus point). I looked in vain for how to turn this on in Aftershot. The data is obviously in the metadata and can be displayed. Googling this I found a plugin for Lightroom that does this.
I do have three screens so having ViewNX2 open in one window and using Aftershot in another is not the end of the world, just a bit of a bother. Would be nice if there was an option in the View Menu that allowed for the "locked on focus point" to show when clicked.
If it is already there let me know.
Also looking in Paintshop Pro but this would be more of an Aftershot things IMHO. didn't find it in PSP either.
Maybe there is a plug in that lights this up.

1.Add webshare function. For Chinese,Add QQ Zone,Sina Weibo,Lofter and so on.
2.Add Nikon D3300 supports. (Now the newests version ASP2 can not recolonize my DSLR by RAW exif. )
3.Increase the UI. For now, this ASP2 UI is a little old. it looks like the UI design between 2000-2010
4.Add supports OPENCL on Linux perform.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
1. A stable linux version-Please don't release it until it actually works and the plugins are updated. I understand that you guys aren't responsible for plugins but it's a pretty important part of the work flow for a lot of people. Honestly, I think a lot of plugins should be built into the program anyway.
2. Smart albums-It should work exactly like lightroom.
3.A stable linux version-If I have to use mac, I'll use lightroom. I want to use linux and I'd love aftershot to be a contender but it has to work as well as everything else on linux does.

1) Automatic image stacking based on capture time. This would let me finally organize my old Lightroom library, which I saved once as RAW files, once as TIFF with my adjustments applied.

Remove the folder 'path' from the catalogs
I created a year based catalog system. So 2011, 2012 ... 2015
Whenever I import folders into a catalog it will show the full path, so I have to click several times before I can open the imported folder.
So I would like to see
2015
... Dogshow Amsterdam
instead of
2015
... media
....... archive02
............2015
.................Dogshow Amsterdam

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
my wish is that Corel:
- more enthusiastic in creation of lens correction profiles more frequent and outside the normal update cycle. From my understanding since I edited them myself this txt files could be exchanged very simple
- adds vignetting correction to the lens correction database
- adds chromatic aberration correction to the lens correction database
- supports the correction information the camera puts into the EXIF of the RAW's
- makes a switch in ASP that allows either to choose/apply:
- lens correction from ASP database
- correction information included in RAW EXIF
- no correction

EXIF built-in lens correction information support and OM-D E-M10 Mk II support. That's all I need.

Re: AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions
ASP is a very good tool -- but it is as useful as you are able to use it. It is definitely necessary to support more cameras, at least DSLRs. I've bought ASP -- and discover that my Pentax K-S2 is not supported -- and it means that not only I cannot do lens correction and some specific actions, but it does not even open any raw file, both PEF or DNG -- and K-S2 is out for about one year and it is a popular mid-range DSLR. The support said to me it will be supported "in some next version", but... when??
I think likely all cameras on the market have to be supported in some way -- or at least there should be a way to use the images -- like convert all raw images in DNG using Adobe Raw Converter. I really don't understand why likely all other RAW converters are supporting likely all cameras, and just ASP only "selected". Likely all -- all I've tested: Lr, RawTherapee, Zoner Photo Studio... so even open source! What's the problem? The more surprising is that Corel PaintShop Pro is supporting this Pentax cameras well -- and while converting suggests using ASP as more advanced! It is really a bad joke...
